I hate to be a @crashnburn80 bible thumper, but his thread is worth a read. He breaks down really well why LEDs kind of suck. And the reason that there are just a few that don’t. I love VLEDs stuff, but I would be wary of the LED headlight bulbs. Give the above post a read (or at least the LED part) before spending the money. I think the Hikari’s will prove out to be a better product, and save you a few dollars. That being said, I am totally for doing what makes you happy, as long as you don’t blind other people doing it :)

Just ordered a set of the hikari ultras off ebay for $63 shipped.
I think I'm officially done modding my truck.. for the remainder of 2021 at least....
..... unless I find a trd pro skid plate for under $300....
...also just remembered I have a set of take off oem drl headlights waiting to get a BHLM.
Looking forward to these hikari's tho!

If it's that giant technical write up thread, I've read most of it. But if you're saying don't go with LED, why are the Hikari a better product?

I think he's saying don't go with the VLED leds, as the hikaris are the better product as found in @crashnburn80 's testing.
Hikari seems to be one of the only LED bulbs that give proper lighting with the halogen housing. All others, I'm sure vled included, fall flat when it comes to throwing the light downfield where it's needed most

That’s what I’m trying to say, thanks :) Yeah, nothing against LEDs (I have the Hikaris myself, love them), but a lot (like almost ALL) of LEDs perform poorly. So IF you are going to go LED, I would look at the Morimotos (the new ones, can’t remember the specific models) or the Hikari Ultras. The Ultra is an important part there. Hikari makes a few different ones, they suck too.

I feel like the new morimoto 2strokes have a design flaw. The fan inside of them pulls in air, blows it into the headlight housing, and then sucks it out again. If your driving in rain, fog, or generally damp conditions its just going to blow moisture into the headlight housing. Now move this to northern climates with so much salt in the air you can taste it, that fan is just going to blow salt water all over the inside of your headlight.

EDIT: looks like their website cuts off the last 2 bullet points about the headlight, including the one that says its a sealed unit so air doesnt get inside.

Those are a bulky poor/dated design that will increase foreground light and reduce distance projection. The distance between emitter faces is way to large, I would not recommend those. Unfortunately 'good reviews' are usually based on people seeing huge increases in foreground light and thinking the lights are a significant improvement as people intrinsically favor foregound. But that isn't how a headlight is supposed to work, and they do not realize they have lost their distance projection.

Those Toyota fogs are covered here: Toyota LED fogs. The color temp is 6235k.

The Hikari Ultras and Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s are the only replacement LEDs I would recommend, because they are the thinnest designs providing the best focus and distance projection for LEDs and the only ones to exceed stock performance, though they are still outperformed by performance halogens.

Hikari Ultras covered in this post, color temp 6269k. Morimoto 2stroke are covered here, color temp 5632k. So if looking to color match, the Hikari Ultras will be the best fit.

Good info as always. Thank you.
BTW ai purchased the OEM Tundra fogs already based on your detailed write up. Found a great deal on them locally and agreed with your bang for the buck review and out put ratings.

Man wish I knew you were between these when I met you to give you my grill, I have the philips HIDs, the morimoto 2stroke led, Hikaris leds, in my truck they're all pretty good. The Hikaris were the most reliable, they're still in my truck. The HIDs would sometimes not turn on, the ballast went bad, then the wiring harness went bad. After all that I would never buy the HIDs again it was too much of a headache, sometimes one light wouldn't turn on, other days they would work perfect. If they were more reliable they were the best light's i've had in the truck. The Morimoto's did a decent job I moved them to my high beams for a while and ran the hikaris in the low beam. That combo light up the road pretty well. I would recommend the hikaris, just make sure Amazon sends you the right ones, in the white box. They kept sending me the crappier ones.

Haha.. man, my interest in mods keeps evolving everyday.
I wasn't even thinking about headlight bulbs when we met, and now I know more about headlights than is necessary for the average human.
Glad to hear you are still running the Hikari's.
Hopefully they send me the right ones. It looks like the Hikari ultra h11 have a unique design that can't be mistaken for another bulb, so hopefully it easy to tell if I got the right ones

Seems like a lot of $
Aside from that, I'm pretty sure @Puppypunter makes a harness to make the oem led headlights plug and play on our trucks

Holy Schmokes these bulbs are awesome.
They look incredible and seem to have some great distance lighting.
    Very pleased.
Also matches the color of the fogs almost perfectly.
This is exactly the look I was going for. Suddenly lost the desire to do the BHLM.
If you're considering Hikari, don't even hesitate
