So-looking at getting a pop up canopy. How waterproof is yours? And what brand?
My wife doesn’t think the awning is practical, but is okay with a pop up tent.

I keep a shovel for every person in my truck. Nobody rides for free. The 4 year old gets the half shovel and loves digging time.

I once found two tacomas stuck in the spring snow up Lolo. They had walked down looking for help. I asked if they had shovels and they said they had 3. Easy peasy right? Two of those small folding entrenching shovels and one spade shovelhead... Not the handle just the broken off head. That was 3 shovels. When I saw that I went back to the truck and got 2 full sized shovels. We broke one shovel and spent 3 hours getting them unstuck. It was a glorious day.

Our pop up was free from a co-worker moving out of state. It has character quirks but we use it all the time. Sometimes my wife makes noise about getting a nice new one. Even though you can see through the material in a few places, and two of the legs need extra help it keeps us dry. Also I have no fear of fire around it... It was free and we've got 4+ years of great use. No idea the brand.

Pop up is heavy and bulky and can be a pain to pack in the canopy wet with a bunch of other dry stuff. All that said worth it.

Our family day trip go to is drive over to Seaside, get phenomenal fish and chips from Grizzly Tuna (seriously amazing) and then go up to the Gerhart access and spend the day driving and playing on the beach. Easy day trip from the metro area. Long Beach is also a great trip as the other guys said.

Currently sitting at the Horn Public House eating lunch at Depoe Bay right now.

Very sporty out there today. I would imagine a popup or awning on any PNW beach would become a sail in short order. Rain is sideways.

I haven’t been to seaside in years! I remember going with my fam quite often when we first moved to Portland. I’ll keep that trip in mind as well. I appreciate it man

there are several miles of beaches you’re allowed to drive on around pacific city. Last time I was out there I saw everything from old Volvo wagons to Tesla’s driving on the beach.

I grew up on the coast and for the longest time Seaside was my least favorite place, mostly because tons of douchey people from Portland flock there first. But after we found Grizzly Tuna we always swing by there and then go North or South depending on plans.

Not great for beach driving, but IMO the coolest part of the Oregon Coast is between Newport & Florence. So frickin’ beautiful down there.

Had to sell my 17 Tacoma for a tow rig in order to pull my new home. Still here for a bit to keep in touch.
Always hit Grizzly Tuna before cruising the sand. Im usually found somewhere near the military base flags with a bon fire and kites in the air. As far as I know the beach is still open all the way to the Columbia bar.

Driving on the sand around here has never been an issue. I don't bother to air down or anything. I like the area around Fort Stevens.

So the initial review of the Wildpeak AT3 after 350 highway miles and a few muddy forest roads today is that they are fantastic! I got the E load and I was a bit worried they would feel really heavy and have serious road noise. Not the case. They aren’t really any louder than my GY wranglers, truck drove smooth as hell and they corner like a champ!

Mileage only dropped maybe 1/2 mile per gallon. Granted this is a small sample size of miles, but I’m pretty damn happy with them.

I almost like the stance enough to not really care about getting the lift anytime soon. Plus, my bank account will thank me. I might put myself in Mod time out lol

I justify it by telling myself I did the most important stuff after keeping my truck mostly stock for a little over 2 years. But boy oh boy those prices add up quick, don’t they?

precisely why I’m skeptical of off brand shit from Amazon. Who knows what the hell the load rating is on that thing.
