TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Throwing my hat in. Just installed the mag sc yesterday. Waiting on flash and program download now. 6 hrs of install. Takes a little longer with skid plates. Couldnt find any brass plug. Will update once tuned.

Your signature shows FJ Cruiser and a Tacoma. Which one did you install onto? If a FJ, what year is it?

Ah. Well congrats still, but this specific thread is for the 4.0L Tacoma (2005-2015) and the associated TRD/Magnuson supercharger.

Looks like you have an Army Green 3rd gen, which is a whole different setup. We can probably help you out with general boosting, but the truck is completely different.

If I had to get a 3rd gen for whatever reason, the first thing I would do would be to install the Supercharger.

Yeah the 3rd gen Magnuson Supercharger is entirely different, as you have a Twin Vortices Series and we have a Roots blower, BUT, a lot of the modifying theory is generally the same between the two so we can absolutely help you there, but we cannot help you on specific repairs for obvious reasons.

In order to get you setup really easy and get you ready to get logging for Justin, please refer to the updated page 1 link to Justin's HP Tuner specific information thread. Also, WHEN you are ready to flash, make sure you have a very strong, reliable internet connection. I don't really have to state it, as I'm sure you already know based on prior experiences, but you DO NOT want it to drop while you are flashing as it could be detrimental to your PCM.

 

I was probably just gonna wait until my next date with my mechanic. That’s when the URD headers and tcai go on. I’m scheduled with him on 3/18

 

That works buddy! You can always log, no credits used/needed. And it'll be good to establish a baseline, but that's just me being excited for you. Don't let me push you into anything you want to wait on
