These wouldn’t work with a stock non JBL system would they?

 

I can’t say for sure. The only issue I could see would be maybe a difference in ohms. Not sure what that would affect though to be honest.

 

I also posted non JBL that I took out of my 2020 SR5. Those would work for sure. But they’re prolly the same as what you have now. Lol

 

I’ll try to do more research and see if I can come up with an answer. I was thinking what you’re saying though..

Yes, if these are still like the 2009 JBL systems they operate off 2 ohms and use the stock AMP that is back with the sub to power all the speakers. I have an 09 with the JBL setup and I will shoot you a PM mwroot.

Kicker KS. But I’m removing the stock amp. If you’re keeping the stock amp you would need to get matching ohm speakers, but the stock amp sucks so there wouldn’t be much of a difference.

 

Mind sharing specific setup with name/model if you don’t mind.. I have the premium options with the JBL, liking it so far but would like to upgrade in the future. Thanks.

 

I don’t remember the model numbers, but if you Google each line below it will come up. I got most of my stuff from crutchfield bc they will give you speaker brackets and harnesses for free (about a $60 value)

To connect it all with the truck you need either an AmpPro (involves wire splicing) or the Fosgate DSR1.

The DSR1 is completely plug and play, but I was apparently the first person to try it on a 2021 Tacoma bc it doesn’t work. Been working with iDataLink though. They came to my house and took a bunch of readings from my truck (instead of trying to find a different one to test on). They’ll be working on a new firmware that works with the 2021. They’re 100% confident they’ll get it working. Just have to let them do their thing.
