I kind of look at the extra off road features of the OR model the same way I look at the M&P 40 side arm I carry. I would rather have it and never need it then need it and not have it. Not sure the Sport lovers can say the same thing about their scoop.

The best way to look at it this or any other brand level of offroadability is how much modding you will do

If the only mod you plan to do is maybe lift the truck, then OR or Pro is a good way to go.

If you plan on going all out mega serious off road with aftermarket air/electric lockers and remove res shocks, etc, then I would go with a sport. Save money on the purchase since the extra features in the OR/Pro are not going to be as good as what you will do to the truck. Just my opinion.

I would put a light in the scoop like Night Rider if someone made that. Although I think it has to be some color other than red.

We are on our second Tacoma Sport, 2009 and now 2021. We feel it just adds a bit more character and style.

Sport and Off Road cost exactly the same if configured the same so you could always pull stuff off and sell it if you were going for an all out build.

Yes, I have heard that before, that they cost the same. But in the used market the OR is considerably more from what I saw when I was looking. Right before I picked up my OR, I missed out on two sports that were listed for considerably less, by several thousands. One was optioned nearly identically to my truck. But maybe that is an anomaly.

Sport is the same price as an OR. Not saving anything there.

Yeah the used market can be an entirely different animal but l was only talking about new MSRP.

I like the look of the Sport hood on my ‘14, I hate the occasional blinding reflection that I get from it!

I should have been more clear. I was talking aftermarket. But yes, I have heard before that they are priced the same, which truly makes no sense.

The off road model gets you bigger axles, better shocks, MTS/ATRAC and locking rear differential. That's a huge difference in cost. But I guess a SCOOP is EXPENSIVE:rofl:

It is non-functional but still looks cool. I like the look of mine.

Simple. Sport hood looks a lot better than the plain hood. Also went with a sport because the OR was the same price brand new at the dealer. I also don't plan to off-road in any situation where 4wd wouldn't be good enough, so no soft shocks or rear locker needed for me. The sport suspension is great on road where I'll be 90% of the time. I also think the sport came with the better tech inside as well by default such as the phone wireless charger.

Fun fact, sports have a better resale value as well over OR.

Don't forget the sport has the Hitachi shocks and tech upgrades in the cab over the OR. Just different strokes for different folks.

The phone charger is also in the Off Road too, Tech in the cab should be the same.

I should have specified, stock Sport has a higher resale value than a stock OR here on the east coast.
