Nice!!! I've been in the sport for a couple years now, 80kg class (I know... nobody cares about the lightweights :anonymous:) Mostly in USS but I still dabble in Strongman Corp. What about you guys? @Travish325, @strengthordie, @weldertaco?

Damn I'm always the fat one lmao all y'all are LW.

I do HW/SHW Strongman Corp. I may dabble in a USS show this year for fun, especially since they are lighter weights :p

I'll let the other guys answer for themselves.

Haha right on man, the SHW are the ones everyone comes to see and I can't hate on you guys for that. I do agree that the weights are heavier in SC, especially for the heavyweights, but down in the LW I don't think the weights vary as much between the two. I just sucks for me to cut the extra 5lbs down from 180(USS) to 175(SC).

Did you happen to make it to SC Nats this year? There were 4 heavyweights from my gym that attended; I wonder if maybe you rubbed elbows with any of them?

I got my invite from winning Mammoth Strength but I had to skip Nats, the schedule didn't work for me.

I've competed with a few guys from Michigan that went to Nats. A MW guy and two SHWs

I hear ya on scheduling conflicts for Nats. I qualified for USS Nats last year, which ended up getting cancelled , qualified again this year but ended up finding out my kid is due 5 days before the comp date... So I guess third times a charm!

I just looked up the 2020 Mammoth Strength Challenge results, nice job sir  Looks like like the SHW class was a tough battle... Always seems that way to me when there are only single digit competitors that show up for a class. I've been at a few comps with Northrup- dudes a monster presser but that seems to be his only edge. As for the MW guy Skip Williams is a good friend of mine. Went to high school together, lost touch and ironically bumped into one another at a strongman comp.

Yep! Northrup is a good friend of mine and I know Skip as well.

Chuck is a beast. I only beat him cause I got to go after him, so I did only what I needed to just to out do him to get max points. I wish he had come to Mammoth 2021 but he didn't make it. I got my ass kicked this year at Mammoth. It was stupid heavy, full of misloaded lifts, and it was a stacked 22 guy class, plus my prep was shit and full of Injuries. Sad thing is, if I had pushed myself a little more on just one event I would have gotten top 3 overall and 1-2 in the 300lb class cause there was so many zeros. I look back and had so many opportunities to win it.... Wasted time on the farmers/frame, didn't push myself on the tire flip or stone carry. It is what it is, was only my 2nd open class comp.

Skip is a beast too for his size, his press is insane! That dude will outwork anyone in this sport and push himself past what most will.

I’ve competed in strongman corp under 175, and under 200lbs. Then USS at 181, 198 and in the 220lbs class most recently.

Perks of not being in SHW, you have options for weight class :D (sorry Travis!)
Has your rise in the weight class been intentional?

Also, do you compete most in AK or do you travel?

I’m hella new to the sport. First comp was a SC event, Team Foundry Classic, in January this year. Went open in the 200.8 class. Placed 2nd falling behind my coach so that was almost expected lol. Got a SC Nat Invite from that that I’ll be hopefully attending for the experience if anything. Don’t expect to place top 5-10 in that just because of the experience and strength of the others.

Competing at a USS event in May and hoping to get a nat invite from that as well. Gonna be the 90kg class. @strongkase is my IG.

We have different classes but we all lift the same weight regardless lol I'd have to cut to below 231lbs to see any change in the weights/events and that's not happening o_O

most industrial environment jobs make you get clean shaven for a fit(respirator) test. Especially in welding.
I’ve had to shave atleast once a year for the past 4 years already.
