Bakflip MX4 Prelim Review

Bike hauling question. With a long bed is it possible to have the cover folded back far enough to have rear window visibility and still fit a bike over the tailgate? For my bike I would need the cover to fold up within 27 inches of the bulkhead.

 

Yes the MX4 goes all the way and tilts up against the rear window. Plenty of room

 

Thanks @cspcrx. I was hoping I wouldn't have to fold it all the way up against the window so I could still see out the back. Any idea how much room the long bed version takes when it is folded all the way to the front, but still horizontal? If its less that 27 inches I should be good.

 

I just measured mine and I’m get 26in but I have a short bed. If you call them they should know.

 

I have the long bed back flip, here is the folded flat measurement to the top/front of bed (2020= no rail)

Here is the full open #, it 6” but kinda fragile for any shifting load

Yes, it comes with the brackets to lower your accessory rail. It’s a nice cover, but does leak a bit like many others have noted.

 

It’s been money well spent, being able to haul m/c’s and then lock and cover makes the truck dual purpose too.
Just over a year old it still looks and works like new, No squeaks or rattles off roading either.

 

Anyone ever find where to buy buckles that fit these?

Hi everyone. Can an owner comment on how much bed height is lost due to the cross braces?

 

There are no cross braces and the height of the bed doesn't change...…………… is this real life

 

I wanted to know if I could fit a 18.1 inches box under the closed cover. Since the Tacoma bed is 19 inches, if there is any lost space from the cover, it won't fit.

 

Hello all.
Just found this thread. I am having the same issue as a few before with getting my cover to lay flush along the header of the truck bed.
See the images below.(Bakflip MX4 on a short-bed Off-Road)

Can anyone suggest how to fix? I've read through quite a few of these pages and I can't seem to find a fix.

 

I actually used coax seal for that. Helped keep my bed dry for a year now.

 

Does anyone know where to get a chuckle that fits the mx4? I wnat both the male and female ends. Backflip only sells replacement parts
