ok, I am most likely the last person to come on board with these. I signed up with nextel (now sprint) 10 yrs ago and essentially had the same phone the last 5. I pay 35.00 a month for essetially a voice plan that has 800 national minutes and I have a 16% discount as well.

I am not under any obligation with Sprint, but they will honor my 16% discount if I stick with them and renew. I am looking at the evrything family plan that includes two smartphones for 129 per then -16%. It appears the Talk & text plans for family are nearly 100 bucks a month, so with the discount its actually better to get the everything plan.

    Samsung Transform me

    Samsung Intercept wife.

Whats everyones thoughts on these phones and Sprint in general. I wont get a Droid or a Epic because its a added 10 a month for 4g, which we dont have in our area anyway.

My wife can get a 8% discount through verizon, but it appears the Sprint plan is still works out cheaper.

LOL I still don't have a smartphone. Still see no reason for one either. And I'm an IT guy. But I do have a nice fountain pen. My humble advice ... if you don't need a new phone, stick month to month with Sprint and put that extra money in the bank account. Save up and take your wife on a nice trip. :0) Sometimes less really is more.

I think I am the only one left that has a actual antenna on ther phone. I get my ass busted all the time. Plus my wife has the net 10 prepaid phone, because she only uses very few minutes However, latley she is getting annoyed with always having to buy the cards. She pushing this more than me.

Not into all the phone technology either. Why can't a phone, just be a phone anymore?

My wife still has an antenna on her phone, the phone she still has, has no camera. When I got a new phone a few years back, I got most basic thing they had and it even still had a camera in it. I've taken like 5 pics with it.

Different things for different people, but I can't count the number of times me or my wife and I together went somewhere and we needed one of our smartphones for something, either looking up an address or using the GPS to find directions etc. I also love it even more now because Sirius XM finally has the Stern Show for mobile app so I can listen anywhere my phone has service. Oh yeah, my phone can also be a modem, just plug it into my laptop and I have internet on my computer anywhere. I haven't used that often, but when I wanted it I was glad I had it.

If you have to ask yourself why you need a smart phone, then you do not in fact need a smart phone. Very few people in this world have a legitimate "need" for a smart phone. I rock an iPhone 4 that I can honestly say I don't really have a need for unless you count the fact that I am a full blown technology whore!!! I'm the guy that loves the smell of a best buy in the morning.

Good Point we really dont, but we do however need cell phones. the talk & text plan is going to run me 100 bucks, so for 129 I can get the everything plan, plus with my discount i am only looking at 20 bucks extra a month for the bells & whistles.

Both phones are free at sign up, so thats why i thought i may as well go all the way.

    too damn many
5 of my friends have the new 4g evo personally 4g is overated i dont need my phone 2 seconds faster it works fine now. i rock the 32gig iphone 3gs from att and i pay 90 a month for it which is about average for the smart phones im in college and i need access to my 3 different email accounts along with some of the gps search functions the iphone and all others can do. it keeps my pockets light by eliminating the need for ipod and phone and the app store is badass. lots of useful stuff not gaming crap every major informational source like yellow pages or yelp and in my area the metro have apps its saved my ass so many times i cant even count anymore

Does the GPS run off the phone itself, or do i need reception? I guess my question is if i lose reception with the phone will the GPS still work?

Get a Jitterbug..They're pretty bad ass. Haha j/k j/k..but really, I have an Iphone and it does everything I need it to. But like the others said you really have to ask yourself what you're gonna use it for and what you need. I couldn't tell ya about sprint but I'm happy with AT&T. Good luck

I just got a smart phone kinda wish I didn't now. Thinking about going back to talk and text plan. To me the apps and the internet connection on the phone is just to kill time when your bored.

this. There have been numerous times where I needed to check something. Addresses, prices, which store had a certain item in stock, if I something major really catches my eye, I want to be able to read reviews about it before I drop the money on it
