That's a pretty easy swap isn't it, the input shaft? It's been a while since I've looked, but isn't that swap part of some of the write-ups on the FJ t-case install

Yes typically an input shaft swap is pretty easy. Now i could be wrong, but from what i've found, it looks like the VF4B has a different input shaft to accomodate the stuff going on with the center diff than the VF2B. That was my main reason for steering clear of the swap. I have a v6 6 speed that it will work in as well so i'm going to use it in that and then the 4 cylinder is gonna get an Auto FJ case. If someone can confirm though that the input shafts are the same, i will be quite tempted to buy another manual FJ case and try to do the swap

Good morning John, have a nice Monday brother

Hello from a fellow Texan. I got my `21 DCSB 2.7L this past December and I keep finding myself wondering if I should have sprung for a V6. Finding threads like this one, with people pouring out some love on the 2.7 help a lot.

Of the performance mods you've made, which ones increased the power the most? And would you say that the increase was significantly noticeable or just a little?

    Thank you good sir!

Out of everything i did, the supercharger made the most difference, followed by the 5.29 gears. The sc made a significantly noticeable difference, its a whole different truck to drive now for the better. Same thing with the gears they really helped a lot, but im running 33s so i felt it was necessary. I say hang onto the 4 banger and modify it to fit what you plan to use it for.

Found this last night, looks like i'm going to get to relive my nightmare all over again. Gonna try to install some ARP head bolts on it this weekend and see if that helps, but i am not very hopeful at this point

I'm new to engine mods. What am I looking at here? Where is the problem you're pointing out?

Coolant overflow is filling up and radiator level is going down. So basically the exhaust is pressurizing the coolant system bc the head gasket isnt sealing. Happened on my old motor as well 5k miles after adding the URD blower. Seems to be too much of a coincidence that the replacement motor is doing the same thing 5k miles after adding the blower again. I wouldn't recommend boost on the 2TR without upgraded head studs. Seems to me like the head bolts are the weak link

Oi vey. I know there were a few years when the V6s saw more frequent problems with blown gaskets though I didn't hear that about the 4 cyl. When you added the SC did you upgrade the gaskets?

Yeah the v6 had faulty gaskets from the factory in 05-06 tacos. This probably wouldnt be happening if the motor was stock. I think it doesnt like the added cylinder pressures. No i did not upgrade the head gasket, that was not within my skillset at the time. It's looking like i may need to learn now though

Throwing a new gasket on too or just torquing down the new bolts?

Just gonna try my luck with the new bolts. Too much disassembly to do a gasket right now.. If it comes to that the old motor is getting built..

How much boost are you reading out of the supercharger?

haha yeah that aint no shit. I always read that the pistons were the weak link, but that doesnt appear to be the case from my experience :bananadead:
