I did end up finding one, so we're all good there. I don't really have a use for it right now, I've got a battery mower for my lawn here (partly because my garage and my house are very much connected, so I'd be smelling gas fumes all hte time with a gas mower...) but who knows what the future will bring.

maybe i could turn it into a generator...

A yup. Total shame IMO. I also love the sound of the older flat head small engines, wish we could have more of those but emissions and fuel savings means OHV all the way. Honda now has a twin cylinder commercial engine with EFI and some generators with EFI as well.... you can barely hear them run and I know it's what Harry homeowners want, but I don't like it:rofl:

If you found a junk eu1000 you could make it a generator for sure... not enough pep in that motor to make more than 1500w consistently

Well i've been thinking about building a 12v battery pack for emergencies and stuff. i could hook up an alternator to that engine and be on my way.

Would need to solve the oil consumption first though, generators that have to be constantly supervised so they don't run out of oil aren't super great

Honestly. These things handle like hippos. So 1500 is a bear 2500 is a hippo and 3500 like a elephant. Now I'm just talking about handling due to size. They're big, cumbersome and yes torque for a gas engine.

The King Air lives on. I spent a lot of time on one of these in the early days of my career. If we had 6 people that needed to go to a given destination, we could take the company plane instead of buying airline tickets -- which were much higher in those days.

The best part was pulling your car up next to the plane on the tarmac and loading your luggage directly on. No waiting lines, no check-ins, no boarding, no long waits. Once they look off or landed, the pilots dialed it on on the destination and it did all the work.
