Can I get that contact info? Wife and I are moving back after about 20 years of the Army sending us all over. We'll need someone to help us look. Probably be there April/May/June of next year.

Hey all, we are looking to relocate to the phoenix area this summer. Currently we live in Nebraska, my parents live in Queen Creek/San Tan Valley. From afar, looking at Queen Creek/Mesa/Gilbert area's as well as possibly the southern range part of Phoenix and possibly outside the city such as Maricopa or Gold Canyon. I know the southeastern valley is exploding right now with growth and development and house prices are continuing to climb like crazy. I read through the reviews at the start of this thread, but being 11 years old now wanted to get some fresh ideas on the area.

My office is in Tempe, however I will primarily work remote, my wife is currently looking for a job with a hope/primary goal of remote as well. We have 2 children, one 8 one 2 so a family friendly community/area would be preferable without too crazy of a drive places (hour or less). Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

You posted this a while ago but I figured I would chime in. My family and I moved here from Nebraska to Queen Creek a year ago. I can say it was probably the best decision we ever made. I work remotely and we live in Ironwood Crossing which is a wonderful neighborhood if you can find a house here. There are some pretty decent off roading options fairly close by as well as canyon lake only about 45 minutes. I would strongly advise trying to stay in the east valley, but again I have only been here a year.

    Greetings All -

I moved from Portland, Oregon, to Tucson (Marana) three years ago. This is my first time back on TacomaWorld.
Now that I have my new Rivian, I've got my 2016 Tacoma Sport ready for sale. I've checked in with a few local dealers, but they only want to give a wholesale price of about $28,000 for an unmodified Tacoma.
How should I proceed with trying to sell my truck? I know I can list it here on the forum, which I haven't done yet, but I'm looking for the best ideas.

Here are some of its assets:

VIN: 5TFSZ5AN5GX036791, 43,000 miles, Silver Sky Metallic/Graphite (1D6), 3.5L V6 (2GR-FKS) C/TR:1D6/FD15 A/TM:A07A/AC60F • ICON front 2.5VS and rear 2.0VS shocks, tubular control arms - $2500. • Extra ICON 2.5 VS Coilover shock with Internal reservoir - $750. This shock will be used as a remove-and-replace for shipment of removed shock for rebuilding. Provides continued truck use rather than waiting for shipping and repair services. • WARN 89611 ZEON Platinum 10,000lb Winch with Synthetic Rope - $1,800 • 4.88 Nitro Differentials with ARB air lockers - $3000. REM's ISF surface process (REM Polished Components (dynamicracetrans.com) on new Ring and Pinion for upgraded ratio changed differentials. • ARB High Performance Air Compressor, fittings, and mounts $500 • Performance Air Intake System PTR03-35160 $475 • Roadmaster active suspension 4527-T $539 • Hi-Lift Jack $100 • Trac-Rac Trac One $700 • HomeLink mirror $250 • Bed channel stiffener set and lighting - $200 • Tacoma front skid plate - $400 • Gas tank skid plate - $400 • MAXTRAX Recovery Boards - $250 • AMP Research BedStep - $300 • AMP Research PowerStep Running Boards with lights $1600 • SouthernStyle OffRoad Slimline Hybrid Front Bumper - $1500 • Fab Fours - Rear bumper (Powder coat Steel) $700 • Tool Chest - $300 • Upgraded headlights and taillights. • Upgraded battery and case Maintenance records at Precision Toyota of Tucson.

I am just looking for ideas, but I will post on the "for sale" site if I receive interest via this message.

    All good wishes. John

Have you tried Craigslist and OfferUp? Carvana to see what they will offer?

Im trying to sell my 2018 right now and its miserable. Prices have tanked on everything. $28,000 sounds like a great deal for an 8+ year old truck that was what, $32,000 brand new? You should take it. I wish you luck.

Thanks for your comments on my request. I'll give those outfits a try with an ad or form response. Yes, the original payment was $35,000, but I have an additional $30,000 in mods, including labor. I know I'll never get a return on that, but some of it is pretty apparent.

I wish I only had spent $30,000 in mods on mine over the last 5 years. Part of the problem is that people with extra cash dont always want a modded vehicle, they want to do it themselves starting with a stock truck.

Well… does anyone do like IT work or a IT head hunter in Arizona? I’m looking to come back to the state and need to find a way to pay the bills.

Do you have a specific area you want to be in? If not, then start dropping applications in for Raytheon in Tucson. They are always hiring for IT. I'm a sysadmin there. No clearance, no problem. Many of the positions don't require an existing clearance and they will sponsor you to get one. Having a Security Plus cert ahead of time will increase desirability but they will also cover that if you haven't got one yet. They will even pay for your move here if you get hired.

My family and I love it here. Moved to community near Desert Oasis - near 303 and Grand…

You moved to AZ in the middle of summer! :bananadead: Definitely a lot more house for your money in Surprise compared to other parts of the valley and CA.

Yes we did! I actually started to move things to a storage here in May.. so by June it was just the big items from Ca.. I did hire a moving company to move stuff from storage to the house… learned to get things done early in the morning lol..

the heat wasn’t as bad.. yes it was HOT but the body adjusts quickly.. lots of ice, water, and electrolytes.. lol. I was doing a lot of work around the house as it was a new build (won’t be doing that again.. lol)..

My brother lives near Marley Park. Very nice community but I prefer it here nearer to the open land.. behind my backyard is state land so get to see all the neighbors on their quads, side by sides, dirt bikes etc… very nice people my neighbors are.

loved Cali but changed so much. I owned my home in Whittier which was quiet and no crime back in 2019. By 2024 it was not safe even to walk down the street any longer.. it has literally taken the turn for the worst. Let alone not a great environment and family friendly anymore..

Don’t want to mention politics but I am glad to be here with more likeminded folks :)..

I am still learning the near cities and places to go.. so far love the shooting ranges around lake pleasant.

btw, what city are you located?

    Thanks for the message!

oh , and yes!! Definitely a lot more for the money here as far as housing goes. Ended up with a house twice as big and a mortgage at half of what we owed in Ca…

oh lastly, now I need to find locations that work on Tacomas now.. will miss that from Cali! Lots of great fellow TW dudes and shops that did great service on Tacos…

Other members know more places, but if you cannot contact them in the moment it is better than nothing.

Warning that "green/easy" is NOT always "green/easy". Schnebly Hill west half I will NEVER NEVER NEVER do again ... east part is nice, west part is horrific. Also Senator Highway is long and has cliffside sections, so be sure you have enough daylight.

I'm in North Phoenix. I just sold my house a few months ago and I'm renting while I figure out where to move to next. A lake house out of state is in the plans, but there's a lot to like about AZ too.

I looked at several new home builds in Surprise a month ago. The whole vibe about being detached from the inner city, yet still having amenities close by was appealing. Definitely easier to rip the quads and side x sides around in Surprise than say Gilbert.

Wescott Designs is not too far from you, SDHQ is in Gilbert, Yota Pros in Tempe...the list goes on.

Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale is having an auction in January. It's a family fun event worth checking out.

I'm familiar with CA. I'm from there and still have family in various parts of the state. I go back to visit, but it definitely has changed over the years. AZ has too.

Lake house sounds nice! Yeah, I was stubborn wanting a house in Surprise as my brother lives in this city and also friends moved here to surprise last year as well from Cali.. i should of listened to my realtor when he was suggesting to look at some houses in Vistancia… now that I have actually been there it’s really nice town.. oh well, I am happy here.. lol

I will check out those Toyo shops! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

must looked up Barrett Jackson and this auctions look neat!! Will check it out - looks like a lot of fun.

yeah, I am aware that AZ has changed a lot too.. sigh….
