Just had some 285/75/17 Yokohama Geolander MT’s installed today. I think it turned out very nice. I have a slight bit of rubbing on the front bumper and the plastic fender liner towards the rear of the fender. I have to do a chalk test to check tire pressures, but the weather here has been nasty ever since the snow storm hit us.

The wheels came stock on my truck with the “Texas Edition” package, however I see them on other trucks now as well. Honestly not sure of the specs though. I have 1 1/4” spacers, a 3” suspension block lift and stock control arms.

Edit: According to my google research they are Toyota TSS rims and the specs are 17x8 +18mm offset.

I returned my 295/70/17. Once i get credited, I'll order some Cooper 285/75/17.

2.75" lift, 17x8.5 0 offset 4.75bs and i ordered 3/4" bora spacers to clear the JBA UCA. CMC & pinch weld done. Will heat gun and do the necessary trimming.

    I should be gtg? 100% pavement 5K mi/yr.

Mine only rubs on the front of the bumper/fender liner. And they rub HARD! Actually broke the clip on the driver side tonight going to get some ice cream at DQ. Tomorrow morning I am going to figure out how I want to go about moving the fender liner forward about 1/2” so I can then cut my bumper as well. I want it to be easily removable like it is stock (not that I ever plan in removing it). Depending on your driving habits it might rub bad, or hardly at all.

Just got my 19 taco a few weeks ago and you guys have sold me on the 285/75/17. Im ordering the Race Relations rr7-h wheels in 17x8.5 and bfg ko2's. They have backspacing available at 0, -12, and -25. What would be the best offset to use to minimize trimming/etc but still clearing the UCA's? Planning to order the king lift setup and UCA's.

I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to offsets and whatnot. However I do know that my rims are 17x7 +18mm. I had to run wheel spacers to make clearance for the upper control arms, but I would say I have close to 1” of space, so a thinner spacer would have also likely worked. I’m also assuming that you running aftermarket control arms will help quite a lot.

Check site out and compare the new wheel specs to your stock specs.
I currently run 285/70r17s (same width as 285/75, just not as tall) on 17x8.5 0mm offset wheels and clear the uca by ~3/4". The more negative the offset you go, the further from the uca, but this also will cause more rubbing on the fenders/cab mount.

I've read some claims of 17x8.5 0 offset 4.75bs rubbing onto JBA UCA, so I ordered some .75" spacers. Which equates to -19 offset. .5" spacers or -12 offset might have problems clearing 295s, which is .5" wider than 285s.

Don't order 17x8.5 0 offset. I'd go either -12 or -25. -25 if you might one day want to run wider than 285s.

Okay appreciate the help, will order the -12's as I don't plan to go wider and don't want them sticking way out.

I have -12 8.5” wide wheels. Much later today after work I’ll post some pics for ya and include a side shot looking down so you have an idea of how much they will stick out

Made the switch from Toyo MT's to Nitto RG's. Definitely a quieter and softer ride. Not the best pics since it's stuck in my driveway lol.IMG_1908.jpg IMG_1909.jpg

285/75r17 Toyo ATiii aka AT3 wrapped around Black Rhino Boxer wheels gunmetal black 17x8.5 -12 offset

Huge fan of them. I came from BFG KM2s in a 255/85r16 on method NVs. Very smooth compared to those and a lot quieter then those KM2s. They had about 1/3 tread life left in them.

It seems like everyone has SCS wheels and if you don’t have SCS wheels then you have Methods so I wanted to do something a little different. Also the BFG KO2 everyone seems to have as well so again. I chose something different just to see.

Having a tough time deciding which tire brand to go with. Needs to decide by tomm.

    100% pavement, 6K mi/yr.

Cooper AT3 XLT might be a great way to go. Lightest out of the bunch I believe. I haven’t heard of anyone complain about noise. If your sticking to pavement primarily then maybe a c rated tire. The TOYO at3 is c rated. Might give a bit better of a ride.

Going on 14 months on my AT3 XLTs and still love em, wearing well and not really noticing any noise (I also have a roof rack I’m used to, though, so I may not be a great judge of cab noise)
