Regretfully I'm just middle class enough to not qualify for any free money but not middle class enough to be able to afford the 19k per year out of pocket

 

I'm just glad it's not getting turned into more condows

 

yeah it's a tedious process for sure, if your school has a financial aid department I would use the heck outta them to help you out. Federal student loans are good because the interest rates are much better and they will always work with you as far as repayment goes, base it on your monthly income, etc.

Private bank student loans have the worst rates that always change and they DGAF what you can afford, they'll take your mom's house

 

I just got to that section of the form. Average interest on the unsubsidized federal loans is shy of 6% private loans sit around 18%

 

Yup sounds about right

 

I'm sure they didn't tos them. You should try and get one.

 

don't forget that they jack up the price of every semester by a couple hundred

I just feel like sending 95k work light bulbs to the land fill cancels that 7.7%

 

Happens to a lot of people, a family can have a decent six figure income but say you have 2 or more kids to put through college they don't necessarily figure that into it. They just see the income amount and rule you out of any federal financial aid. So people turn to private student loans and then end up with tremendous life long debt.

Think I'll go put a little more $ into my daughter's school fund now after all this talk, hopefully in 18 years it will cover everything lol.

 

Did you miss the 3rd grade?
