So this random sales guy in Daytona has insider info that no one else has? My point is, take what you hear from a sales guy with a grain of salt...

    Sincerely,
    A career salesperson.

I seriously doubt it considering it appears the Tundra will be moving away from the V8.

That salesman chooses one customer at random to punk each day, and then he giggles about it with the other salespeople over drinks at Applebee’s.

Yup! It's going to be the V8 from the Lexus IS 500. 472 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque.

I mean it's certainly possible. It would easily fit, and wouldn't be hard for Toyota to do.

But do I think it will happen? Probably not. I suspect the next Tacoma is going to be a big change that Toyota hopes will last them a good long while again. (After all the "current" Tacoma was really introduced in 2004 and, while updated heavily, particularly for the 2016 model year, is still selling extremely well 17 years later).

The chances of Toyota going larger on the engine moving forward seem pretty small, though North America does love large N/A engines...

Unless the Tacoma is going to become the new Tundra I don’t see it ever happening.
What would be the benefit of adding a V8 engine in to a med size truck.
Are you going to be able to tow more with it? If so, you’re going to need to do more than just add a larger engine. Brakes, transmission, cooling, suspension. (The Tundra already had this)

If anything, I’d say they need to bring back a factory supercharger or turbo option.
The Tacoma is barely adequate for towing at its current rated capacity.
It’d be much easier to do this than a total redesign for a V8.

Lot of salesmen dont know shit
When buying my tacoma in 2019 he told me the only difference between the SR and SR5 was the power sliding window
And that the only difference between the SR5 and the OR was the suspension
