You'd honestly believe they'd take the V8 out of the Tundra but put one in a Tacoma at the same time?

I've got some opportunities I'd like to talk to you about. PM me to get in on a great financial investment opportunity, but for you only!

Exactly, you'll be lucky to see an 8 cylinder offering in the Tundra, let alone the Tacoma.

The next generation Tacoma will be downgraded to a turbo 4 and the next generation tundra will get a twin turbo V6 with the possibility of a hybrid power train

I would prefer a factory 3.5 V6 Turbo or Supercharged.

Even GMs won't have much info. They'll know what's going to be coming to their dealerships, maybe just a little outside of that, but they certainly won't know of upcoming things. To get the real scoop, you'd need to have inside info from high level Toyota corporate.

The Tacoma is too light to tow much more. You should really have a bigger truck when you're getting to the max rating.

As for the V8, I agree. Maybe something with longevity, but mostly that's a placebo effect. The last generation Colorado had a V8 option before it's 3 year hiatus and the V8 didn't return. Personally, I'd rather see a diesel than a V8, but I don't see that happening either.

Following in Ford's footsteps, but likely learning from their mistakes too.
