In the same boat and I'm looking forward to other's replies. Currently on 2018 Specialized Fuse Comp 6Fattie (Medium) but contemplating going FS(Ibis Ripley AF, Stumpy Alloy....). Availability of demos is going to be difficult this year and I'm interested in others experiences in sizing.

I'm in the exact same boat. i'm 5'10". That said. I also look at my inseam. I have a slightly shorter inseam so a Medium works for some manufacturers because I can put a bigger dropper post. I think for me, it just seriously depends on the manufacturer. For my Evil, I went with Medium becuase I am dead set in the M sizing. For my Capra, I have a Large because, again, I'm like perfectly sized for it. For a Rocky Mountain, I'd have a choice between M and L and I htink I'd go with M just because I can put a bigger dropper on it.

But what's interesting with say Evil, their numbers for a M or L (reach/ett) line up pretty close with say Specialized S3 and S4. The Specialized size chart shows 5'5"-5'11" for S3 and 5'8"-6'2" for S4. So either is a reasonable option in either brand for someone 5'10" I think. Ibis has similar numbers to Evil as well and recommends a large for 5'8"-6'1". Looking at Following, Stumpy, Ripley for reference.

    Sizes M/L for each
    Following: Reach 460/480, ETT 611/631, M 5'8"-6', L 6'-6'4"
    Stumpy: Reach 450/475, ETT 605/632, S3 5'5"-5'11", S4 5'8"-6'2"
    Ripley: Reach 450/475, ETT 603/630, M 5'4"-5'9", L 5'8"-6'1"

I'd say those are basically equivalent numbers. One company says go medium, one says go large, and one says take your pick.:D

I just don't have experience on enough bikes and sizes to have a feel for just how much you give up or gain with each size and how big of a change it really is on the trail.

I was at this point on my Pipedream when i was ordering the frame, which was strange since I'm normally pretty clear cut at 6ft.

Having ridden various size bikes, I've found it boils down to purpose. I tend to like my XC and trail type bikes smaller since I can throw them around easier. Its fin to hoon around on them.

But on an enduro type bike where I value stability and plowability over dicking around on a green/blue beginner trail, I like the ability to stretch out a little on a larger bike.

I'm 5'-6.5" and I ride a size small bike. LBS recommended me to a small cannondale. Then my Santa Cruz I bought used.. the numbers on that frame was similar to my cannondale so I once again went with a small bike. I think if I buy a downhill bike, then I will go with a medium

I'm 5'10", but have a short inseam, I usually wear a 30" inseam, which still leaves some bag at the bottom of my pants. I have the torso of someone 6'2". I ride a medium, but I feel like I look a little funny on it, because I look too big for my bike, but it works for me.

Does anybody have experience with custom graphics on a helmet? I've seen the tech around - but how do they do this? Is this a sort of hydrodrip or custom paint? Also assuming this is prevalent in the moto world but I'm not sure where to start.

    Thanks for any leads

The red bull helmets are painted. There's a few paint houses that specialize in it because each one has small details added by the rider's imagination.

I know others that have had custom painted helmets as well, but for simpler patterns, you certainly could hydrodip it. Vinyl if you want certain patterns is an option too.

Just set up a rental of a Rocky Mountain altitude Carbon 29er for a weekend later this month where I'll head to Sedona. Got a friend Who's visiting and he'll be on my bike since It's closer to what he's used to and I've been considering stepping up to a larger travel bike as well as 29er. Ill be curious to see what it pedals like since everyone online insists enduro's are horrible to pedal. I'm stoked for sure.

Hydrodip is not compatible for logos, right? Vinyl may be the most reasonable way short of custom paint

Hydro is great for patterns like camo on rifle stocks where orientation, etc really dont matter. It sits as a film on top of water and you dip through the image to transfer it. Logos would be really hard I think since things like letters have to be so precise and oriented so specifically.

If you PM me, I may be able to mock something up for a helmet depending on complexity.

    Older ones sure did.

The newer wreckonings, Sentinels, etc are amazing by enduro bike standards, but comparing my sentinel to my sirius hardtail isn't even a comparison.

Shop I called said they had either a pivot 5.5 27.5 or a the rocky mountain. My trance 2 is a 27.5 with exact same travel numbers so I figured try something different. But I am curious what 140 rear 27.5 would feel like on carbon frame carbon wheels with a nx eagle drivetrain instead of my shimano 11 speed on my Aluminum frame Trance. That's something I haven't been able to see for myself yet. The difference of a 2.9k bike vs 6k bike with same suspension numbers and somewhat similar geo.
