Resonator tips aren't as effective as an in pipe version, due to size length and location. But since i have two of them, i can make up for that ineffectiveness. Came across these as i was trying to avoid welding on big ol' resonators only to not be satisfied with the sound.

Here is the link to mine
    https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B003D4K...abc_V958TR719NG9J8QSBEYG?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
They have other sizes also, depending on your needs and they just clamp on to the end of the tail pipe. I went for the biggest possible, as I thought it would be the most effective at absorbing certain sound frequencies.

In cabin drone maybe incomparable though, since i have a lot of sound deadening in my cab.

I am liking the MW tune, maybe some things i would change, but I am not so well verse in VTuner to make my own tune. I initially tried it because i saw Gearlock. I would like a 91 performance with Gearlock for 31-33 tires.

I have the catted dump tubes and a full exhaust from Dirty Deeds, it sounded cool for a few weeks but then my ears would ring at the end of the day and climbing hills became unbearable. My fix was to install a bigger muffler and put the secondary cats back in, sounds much nicer now.

As far as the tune goes I dont think there is an official 2.0 tune that does anything special besides toggling the engine codes off in the software. At least thats how mine is setup now.

My best advice is to leave the secondary cats if you want to avoid a ricer sound on the Tacoma.

The age old question - did you notice any performance improvements with the addition of some or all of the components - catted down pipes, specu u, etc?

catless downpipes and stock exhaust. noticable performance improvement down low and mid-range. still using the first dump tube tune with premium fuel.

i tore out the entire TRD exhaust front to back, redid it literally 4 times to dial it in with a bunch of tweaks along the way. that's what it took for me to nail the performance and have a reasonable sound as well. the difference is like a totally different motor with power delivery. but i'm in a MT where i control the revs and that is where the difference is usable, IMO. if i couldn't rev into the powerband directl to control power delivery then it probably wouldn't be worth it to me. this motor is great as long as you aren't stuck having to rev from idle under load. gotta get directly into the powerband before loading the motor or it sucks like before, speaking for myself.

combo of exhaust “intake” and vf tune in a m+w tune. Hell yea makes a difference.

From the tuning thread in case some aren’t following all the OV threads.

Has anyone played with exhaust valve vvt to actually take advantage of these?

I have a catted set still in the box. I don’t see the point of installing till we can tune for them. Kind of disappointing that all the tuning support for dump tubes is a bandaid that turns off the CEL but fails the O2 readiness.

Any other brand making them catless, and that won’t throw a code upon installing them. ??
