This pattern fit my 2014 2nd gen correctly - but I used the 1/8 thick aluminum diamond plate. Matched the drilling pattern to the original Toyota plastic cover. You will want to replace the OEM mounting hardware - use Rivnuts and stainless screws. Depending on the finish you want, you could use various types of screw heads - maybe countersink. On mine, I laid out another set of screw holes across the center - matching them to the crossmembers of the tailgate. Others have put stainless cup holders through the cover at spots where internal clearance exists.

Ordered one off Etsy for like 60?? Have yet to put it on, but looks like great quality and had a ton of good reviews.

I got my mobtown one when they had a sale. Think it was less than $120 shipped. I've been pleased with it so far.

You had me excited for a second! This thread is about the entire inside panel of the tailgate, not the vinyl letter inserts for the 3rd Gen. I'm still debating on either making my own, or shelling out $200 for an AL Offroad one. Having a newborn cuts into DIY time!

I have the mobtown one and I’m happy with it, cheaper and more rugged than the other cutting board material ones. Does get hot as hell in the summer though!

It depends on what you’re going for. I’m going for additional strength so I’m happy with my steel mobtown set up. Some here want a flat set up and some are looking for cup holders...

I've been running the relentless fab aluminum tailgate reinforcement for a few years now. It's nice to have a flat area for sitting/drinks/working on stuff. No issues with heat, mines under a bedrug and shell. I added a strip of aluminum to finish off the edge and keep the bedrug from getting hung up on stuff.
