Take it in to the dealer. Just happened to notice that Toyota published a tech tip in January about the rear bumper gap (T-TT-0477-18). Get enough people taking it in and they'll at least start collecting some data to see if there is a QC or part issue.

I would avoid messing with hood hinges, that hood is heavy and It may shift too much and you might not be able to put it back without help. You may have to tinker with the rubber stops a little more. Mine’s not perfect, but is acceptable compared to how it was at delivery.

Back to this old post. After checking out numerous Tacomas, I have found that stuff doesn't always line up "nice and neat". I have adjusted my Tacoma's hood so that it lines up OK with the fenders...both the gap and the height. Originally the passenger side of the hood was low to the fender and the driver side was high to the fender. The hood to the grille shell fit almost perfectly. With the adjustments I made hood to fenders, the hood to the grille shell is a little bit raised on the passenger side and a little low on the driver side. How did it turn out for you other perfectionists who made hood adjustments? Who would notice this but me? Hardly anyone. I'd have to tell them what to look for.

Too funny my passenger side has a gap like this and my drivers side looks great. In for an answer as well.
