It's time I re-do the shift knob and boot. Boot is surprisingly in pretty good shape but there are some minor signs of wear near the top ring. The knob has mostly come unstitched at this point.

I haven't really seen a different setup than OEM that I love, so I'm going to have the stock one recovered in a black leather and match to the boot. Maybe do a dark blue contrast stitching. Something subtle that doesnt jump out.

I just went and bought the 3/4 rubber grommet for my 2nd gen, unfortunately it doesn't look like it fits. If I can save anyone a trip to Home Depot I'm happy to toss it in an stamped envelope for free.

That said, does anyone know what size would work best with my 2015?

New to forum, just got a white trd off-road MT, first Tacoma I’ve had since trading a black gen 1 off-road MT 17 years ago. My shift knob is a $8 cue ball from a Amazon. I drilled a 15/32 hole about 1.5 inches deep and ‘tapped’ it with a m12 bolt. I then counter bored the hole with a 9/16 bit about 3/4 deep to clear the taper on shifter. I am waiting on trd shift boot collar, but for now a 9/16 tie-rod dust boot from Napa flipped inside out look almost factory.F14D29C9-B9F0-4D31-8FE1-982C8B63B384.jpg

Thanks. Yeah, I had already order a collar from 7r41lbr34k3r before I tried the dust boot. I probably would have been fine with just the dust boot, but now I have the trd collar, I think it looks even better, like it should have come from the factory that way.

Good picture, thanks! I just slapped it on the Etsy listing to represent the TRD pattern. Funny, I sell this pattern the most, yet have very few pictures of them installed.

Hurst ball with cores short throw shifter and I love it. Put about 60k miles on the core short kit and I just wish I would have done it sooner.
Plan on changing to the trd fj knob with matching t case knob once I get a manual t-case in this baby.
