    Annoyed by the morning squirrels squeaking on cold starts, I tried to torque the crank pulley. Still there after checking torque to 185 ftlbs. Anybody have luck shutting up the idler? Sounds like the lower or somewhere.

    Spray a little soapy water solution on each idler until you catch the culprit.

    Are you running a qwikchange? I need to know what sort of mods you have done to your idler system. I have baby squeaking as well, but I know exactly what the issue is, I just have no way of correcting it.

    I wouldn't mind having more output from the alternator. I just don't feel like buying one of those as expensive as they are.

    What tool is that you're using to torque the crank bolt? I still have all my NST light weight pulleys in a box... was wondering how people were getting the crank bolt on and off.

    You're manual trans aren't you? Pull all fuel related fuses, place a breaker bar on the crank and brace it against the frame. Bump the starter, a loud nasty noise will happen and the breaker bar and crank bolt will fall on the ground. Just make sure you know which way it spins so you brace the breaker bar on the proper side.

    Swapping out wires with this ALT, gonna put a fuse between the ALT and BATT. The 140amp fuse you speak of, is it the one in the fuse box?

    Yup. Smooth flow qc. No mods to the idler anymore. Had a belt wrap mod but removed it trying to chase this morning start noise. Then I I swapped my alternator so I had to tensioner so I had the middle idlers out the but didn't touch the bottom since I thought the noise was originating on the upper. Seems to have moved to the lower lol.. or was always there.
    Didn't want a mess. Hate wd40 for anything other than penetrating fluid. Was hoping there was something like ptfe dry spray but will give it a go

    Just have Les Schwab tighten it, their torque spec for lug nuts is north of 200 ftlbs
