    If you re planning the big 3 or big 4 (includes alternator) then I would. If you have a lot of draw upgrading the cables for the main harness is 1,2,3. Main, ground, engine I think. then if you go the full 9 yards you upgrade the alternator. Its on my list to do at some point.

    I rewired the Big 3/4 to 1/0. I'm not imparting any additional load on the stock distribution system, but I have several accessories that I enjoy having more Amps available at idle for. This include two electric fans for the engine, radios, and stereo equipment.

    I would just take the belts off and spin the idlers by hand until you find the culprit. It's very clear which bearing is going out because it will feel scratchy and drag.

    Ya, it's a big brown unique fuse that's screwed in place in the fuse box. Unless you upgrade or bypass that- you'll never pull more than 140amp anyways. I looked to see if they have that style fuse rated higher but wasnt able to source one out.
    Upgrading the other "big 3" is obvious and straight forward.
    I thought that running that fuse in parallel with another fuse could work but I lack the knowledge to do it correctly.
    Other option is to bypass it and run an inline fuse.

    Here's some really great information on the Big 3 upgrade. This guy has done an outstanding job detailing out what is involved. He also inspired me to build my own Bussman RTMR power distribution block. http://www.bodenzord.com/archives/473


    He outlines where you can fuse the alternator, but as a whole, I don't know why you would need to replace the vehicle's 140 amp fuse if you're not adding any additional loads to it. Most people tap onto the battery for aux power, so I can't think of a reason.

    That's actually a pretty fair statement. 140 amps all in one shot is A LOT of load to demand. I really can't see why you would demand more out of your vehicle unless you are tapping straight into your battery and even then.

    I plan on removing everything up front. Just make it super easy to work on. I've tried too many times to squeeze my American sized hands into a Japanese hand sized space on this truck and left with less skin than I started with.
