Popular Mechanics did a test on Vacuums, and found the Dyson looses suction just like all teh others.

The bags on teh Hoover self seal. No dirt goes anywhere.

I have a Hoover windtunnel bagless and like it well enough. When the filter is clean it works great. Just could not see paying the price to keep replacing the filter, so I clean the filter with my shop vac. (also shop vac our dust buster filter) Less messy than knocking the filter agianst the side of a trash can, and cleaner as well. I need to do this every 4 to 5 uses to keep it up to par, which gets old. Looking forward to using bags agian.

I've had two Rainbows and really like the water filter but damm you just can't drag it out to the car to use all those expensive attachments....

Thats why Dyson is recommended. The cannister disconnects from the body then you can put the bottom end into a bad squeeze the release trigger which releases a little door and the contents just go into the bag really no mess at all.

Ok I think those are the ones with a piece of cardboard at the opening of the bag with a little X scored into it where the tube of the vacuum goes into it. The trouble with those you have to kind of guess how to get the most out of your bag empty it to soon as you wasted some space change it too late and you get that mess where the tube is all plugged up and dirt is coming out of the bag. The dyson you could empty it everyday if you want and it doesn't cost a penny.

Nope. It attaches differently. As you remove the bag, a sliding "seal" closes on the bag, sealing it. I think Hoover developed it or something....Not entirely sure. All I know is, No dirt ever gets out of the bag. Tube never gets plugged, and I dont have to fuss with changing a canister after every vacuuming.

The vacuum cleaner wasn't a dyson but it did have the same design as far as detaching etc...

Won't beat a dead horse but there is no need to empty the cannister more than every once in a while and you don't have to say,"honey where are the empty vacuum bags at, Oh we don't have any? crap! company is coming over and I just made a mess".

With 2 dogs, and living in the desert, Every time I vacuumed, the canister would be over half filled. The bags on the Hoover are much larger than the canister capacity by about 10 times. Also, No filters need to be washed. Like I mentioned, Ever since we got the Hoover, my Wife hasnt complained about alergies after vacuuming.

Aah...the Hoover arrived today :). I quickly assembled it and made a few passes. I'm impressed so far with the power of this lightweight unit.

Thats the important thing (your wifes allergies). If the Hoover helps then no sense in changing vacs.

We have a Dyson pet model, for three animals, 1) Burnese Mtn Dog, 2) Lab Mix-long hair, 3) Persian cat. The hair from my pets kicks the Dyson's ass on a weekly basis. The hair will load up the brush and the stupid thing will make this crazy grrrraaaahhhh sound. So, dont waste the money on a Dyson, and +1 on the cheap plastics comment, for that much money I would have hoped the quality would have been higher. All name no game, next vac we will go back to the Hoovers.

we have a bissel healthy home (bagless)...cost about $200, but does great with the pet hair and kitty litter...after using it the first time before getting the 2 cats, we were amazed at how much our old vacuum missed...it was disgusting!

I have an older Kirby Tradition. Close to 20 years old now and it still works well. The newer models are lighter but very expensive. Come to think of it this one was expensive in its day.

I have had my Kirby overhauled twice now by the factory. $75 each time and I received a new hose both times.

I have no problems with the empty and clean process. My wife thinks it is too heavy.

Fo my garage I have a Metro vac and blow. Worth the price.
