It's less Tacoma and more mod
Insert tooling will only get you so far. There's a lot of jobs that only brazed carbide can fit or be sharp enough to work on. Plus insert tooling is ridiculously expensive for the home gamer. this coming from a home gamer that has a whole bunch of insert tooling and high-speed steel and even a little bit of brazed carbide left

That's fair, the cell I worked in had only insert stuff but between the 3 machines I ran I never came into any issues.

In that same regard I only made OEM parts and the really cool/one off stuff was done elsewhere so i don't know how much more custom stuff they had over there. I'm for sure only a home gamer as well and have looked into a bigger better set-up when I have a garage and I cringe at the cost of tooling.

But in the long run it's cheaper.. I think. Depends on how many inserts I fuck up:rofl:

That's a fair point... I enjoy touching up dri bits at the belt sander

    I rebuilt it.

And now fuel is spraying everywhere. It’s spraying out the choke hole.

Did you remove that Welch plug?

Did you read that manual before tearing everything apart?

    I don’t think this has a Welch plug, I couldn’t see one.

I skimmed through the relevant sections. I watched a video. I adjusted the lever by bending it so it was just barely about to touch the top of the carb when I put a straight edge on.

I hear hissing sounds after I pull on the starter cord a lot. Something is awry.

I'm potato photoshopping but the purple circle is over the face of a needle that does not look like it has a Vinton tip. While the green circle IS a viton tip. The red is the Welch plug, you're correct not all have them

Yeah, I put em on. It looks like it’s leaking out where the choke hole is. There’s too much fuel.

This is how I adjusted the lever. I pulled the edge until it almost touched a straight edge.

That is the correct way to adjust it. But what about the needle tips? Were they exactly the same? If it's flooding out of there then it's not sealing against the needle.

Also this is a Welch plug in your carb5052C6D1-9301-4943-87EC-9A688CF53B1E.jpg

Check to make sure it's not loose at all.

No the needle tips are different. The new one is metal tipped and the factory one is rubber.

The Welch plates are not loose.

The new metal one, was there a teeny tiny rubber doughnut looking thing in the bag?

Nothing like that. Take a look at the parts at the top of the paper towel, that was the contents. The one part I had no use for was this bowl shaped silver circle.
