I have a 2003 Tacoma that already had the Boss 3" lift kit on it when I got it. It's not the 2.0. The rear shocks are both blown and I'm having a hard time in all these threads, including this one, finding out what shock I should replace them with. Everything just says 5100's, but which exact ones because some say they don't have enough travel? And is there any other alternatives? This noob thanks you in advance.

Hey peppinose did you do the 2” Toytec? And do you think with your lift you could fit a 32.5” tire?

    TTec Boss folks.

I am planning on ordering this setup soon, just want a couple opinions from the group prior to pulling the trigger.

I have a 2017 DCLB TRD OR. Looking to fit either a 275/70R16 or 285/75R17. Goal would be no rubbing if possible. I don't "wheel" the truck. Just use it for access to remote hunting and fishing grounds as well as lots of time in the snow. I do tow a 18' aluminum boat over the mountains as well. Not crazy heavy and well within the stock tow cap.

With that in mind, I did not want to spend the dough on a King or Icon setup and the Boss (Original, not aluma series) seemed like a good candidate for what I want.

Plan is to do the 600lb front coils, and the progressive AAL for the rear.

    Thoughts?

You think about the 620 eibach coils? These are coilovers & kit I went with. For the extra weight & I didn’t want/get the front spacers. Because I have a V6 2013 Sb sport, I wanted beefier coilovers without the top spacers. I also got the boss rear shocks. I bought it on Black Friday for there 15% off sale.

So far the best upgrade for my truck!

So what's are the main differences between the dakar hd pack and the toytec boss 10 leaf pack ? I know the hd has a couple overload leafs and the toytec has none. I have the old dakars and they are stuff but can handle alot of payload. What would be the comparison between the two ?

It all depends on what you are going to end up using the truck for.

The BOSS packs are more designed for ride comfort and articulation as to the Dakar packs are designed for that weight especially the HD packs.

Yea right now I'm leaning towards the dealers stage 2 because of the overload spring. My original dakars gave me a good 160k miles. They got nice and quiet after 50k miles when the Chicago rust gave them a nice quiet coating, lol. Haven't heard great things about qc on the new dakars though.

New member. Just got a Toytec Boss kit installed at my local shop after having no luck ordering the kit myself. These kits are hard to find in stock now and my shop said they had one left. Negotiated a small discount but when I got home I realized I got the standard boss 2.0 coil over fronts (non-aluma) and the aluma series rear shocks. What do you guys think? Was I duped?

Got any pics? Get your paperwork & let us see that too. They offer a variety of combos in their kits. Also, look at this 1/2 full. You got the last one. Do you like the lift? Why not order directly from Toytec?

I believe the front coil overs are discontinued...also, research points to the old shocks being made by Radflo and the new Alumas are Elka.
On the other hand, I am really impressed with this lift. It so far exceeds what my expectation were and then some for performance.
I paid 10% off retail and ~$600 install. I had an Aluma kit on order but had to canx due to no inventory at Toytec.
Should I be concerned that I got a frankenstein kit?
I don’t want to incriminate the shop just yet so I can’t post the invoice. It just says “Toytec boss” The Aluma series are beautiful—the old one...meh.

Nah. Those might be the 650 springs & kinda look like the ultimate kit maybe. Those are super nice front coilovers

Hopefully not off topic but I have a 2017 Pro with Boss 2.0 suspension & SPC UCA's and I keep hearing a loud clank noise from the front coilovers when I hit sharp bumps at speed. My guess is that the shock is 'topping' out when the wheel clears the obstacle and springs back to full extension before falling under load. Are any of you having this issue?

Regarding fixes, I've owned street coilovers that allow for rebound dampening adjustment - I'm guessing that these shocks don't have that capability. I've also read that some folks use extension straps but typically only on long travel set-ups.

Any ideas on how to eliminate the noise? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone replaced the lower mount bushings on their coils yet. Last time I had the suspension apart mine were about shot. I was wondering if there was a better option then the rubber bushings they come with that someone has used or if @Toytec Lifts offers a replacement to press in.

Normally when I see those bushings go out like that, it is because during the installation process the lower mount bushing is torqued at full droop, not at static ride height. When that happens the "Neutral" position of the bushing is "set" per say, at full droop, so when you lower the vehicle back down, the bushings are going to bind and twist to try to get back to the "neutral" position of full droop and will eventually rip.

We do have bushing replacements in stock here ready to go for $10.99 per bushing.

    Thanks!

There are a few variables that come into play when figuring out a clunking noise.

What I would first recommend doing is taking a base line height measurement from the center wheel hub to edge of fender, want to make sure that we aren't over adjusted in the front there causing the top out to happen.

Double check the ball joints for play/ grease?

Shoot us a call with those measurements or a PM on here and we can try to pinpoint right where its coming from.

Appreciate the response! I always torque under static loading with the wheel on so I'm thinking might have just been from me beating on the truck lol. If you could provide the link to the replacement busing I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

I think the answer is no... there wasn't any tagging of left vs. right on mine and not mentioned in the instructions. Pretty sure I have the same amount of threads showing on both coilovers.

@Toytec Lifts can you please confirm?
