almost a disaster

so i drove my truck from nc to el paso, tx. 1800 miles and it ran like a dream. well me not thinking i didn't check the oil level regularly. a week and a half after i arrived in el paso i hear my engine making a funny noise. so i pop the hood and after some investigating i notice i had the most microscopic of drops of oil on my dip stick. almost ruined my engine. QUICKLY went to the store and got some oil for her. i would've have cried if my engine seized up.

 

I always ALWAYS check my fluids every fill up.

And I check my tire psi once a month twice if on a trip.


Like every other fill up Ill check tire psi

 

got to keep a eye on that stuff man, make it a habit to check everything every time you stop, oil, antifreeze, brake fluid and power steering fluid.

 

First thing to do before and after a trip, is CHECK ALL FLUIDS! Good way to stretch the legs and wake up after driving awhile is to CHECK ALL FLUIDS.

I check my oil level on occassion, once you are familar with your truck and know its habits check it as needed, unless you off road and take a chance on punctureing the oil pan.

 

Gotta check those fluids at least twice a week or before any major trip! Im glad my truck doesnt burn one drop of oil or antifreze. Fluids are always topped out and I never have to add any.

 

It's great you caught it before something bad happened. You better look into why it happened though...that's a lot of oil to lose. Are you sure the correct amount was added at the last oil change and how many miles was on it from the last change?

 

No oil dummy light in your truck?

 

Curious how many quarts of oil you had to add to bring it up to the full mark? If there was little to no oil on the dipstick, it had to be at least a couple of quarts low. That's quite a bit for only an 1800 mile trip to cause.

Any indications of oil drips from being parked overnite?

 

yeah there is i guess the bulb is burnt out or something got to check into that
