Cleghorn Tacoma "recovery" - ouch!

Just wondering if anyone else saw or heard about this event up on Cleghorn this past Sunday (2/28/21). I stumbled upon some videos in a few Facebook groups that I'm a member of. I don't know all of the details of this event or what transpired leading up to it, but it sure is painful to watch how they "recovered" what was a pretty nice 2nd Gen. They turned it from a slow rollover to a totaled truck.

According to some Facebook users that were there, the owner said it was totaled and just "wanted it out of the way". But christ that was painful to watch.

It wasn't totaled until it got drug through a gulley......

 

This is why I avoid Cleghorn, not because of the trail itself but because of the crowd it draws.

The trail itself is pretty lame too actually.

 

Trying to get a sweet payout from the ins while prices are high. Maybe they'll get enough to get 4 spinny wheels

Just wait until the insurance company sees either of those videos

 

Was totaled as soon as those wheels/tires and headights went on

That thing starting up and driving was pretty impressive tho. Makes me happy to drive a Tacoma

 

Well... if it wasn't totaled then, it certainly is now. I couldn't finish the video it was so full of dummassery and extra stupid sauce. Not only did they do unnecessary damage, some of the "helpers" were in bad positions safety wise. I wonder what the insurance company would say about how this was done? All on video and uploaded to the You Tubes. Super smart guys.

I live close to Cleghorn, but I don't do the trail between there and Arrowhead anymore. Too many SxS kamikazes, trail rage types, and "hold my beer" stunt drivers. Takes all the fun out of it.

 

I bet his heart sank when that happened, knowing if he had properly recovered the thing it likely would have been easy to fix it up. Now he's got a real project on his hands/hole in pocket

All of the most painful Tacoma recovery vids seem to come out of Southern CA.

 

Wow is right and yes, that was really painful to watch. There were several chances put that rig back on it's wheels before the damage became extensive. I'm so glad I know recovery folks that actually know what they're doing.

 

Lesson 1 - if you roll your truck, wait for someone with a winch to show up and not some dude in a beat up Dodge with a janky tow strap lol.

 

Although, as evidenced by the 3rd gen that lost its rear axle a couple years ago, even people with winches can royally F up a recovery.
