It’s both the lower gearing as well as the torque converter not locking and unlocking

True I guess. The torque converter doesn’t lock in 1st and 2nd gear.

Ive had the tcase installed for a year with the spacer No problems or leaks from what I’ve checked. (I didn’t finish the conversion until may-July last year)

Not bad considering whats involved to get that output shaft out. See below. He pulls the output shaft at 36:50. Everything before that, yeah - lot of work.

Yea that was 6 yrs ago now, but still it was a good deal. I had planned to do the tear down myself but for $250 it didn’t seem worth the risk. At the time my truck only had 25k miles on it. All the used transmissions I could afford had over 100k miles on them. I think I spent about $800 total to convert the transmission. The rail housing was the priciest part. I put over 100k on the transmission after that before doing a manual swap.

Have you looked into this any further? I'm wanting to do this swap but i'd much prefer to have a manual shifting option for the t-case instead of having to deal with the wiring. Looking at the gif here i don't see why the actuator couldn't be replaced with a shifter of some kind :notsure:
