I've had the setup for about 8 months. Had the camera go black but then it self healed. Someone previously posted this happened to them also. Also have had 2 or 3 instances where the TSS activates and say "BRAKE" for a second or 2. My camera is mounted right in the middle above the sensor in a PRO grille on my Sport. I've only had the truck for a little over a year so TSS issue may or may not be attributed to the camera or even the install area because of how you have to drill the grille to get the camera in the "center" I may just go in and weatherproof that area kinda the way that TSB does.

An FYI for anyone installing the camera, don't put it below your bumper, like on your license plate. To get full effectiveness of the camera you want to be able to see your bumper

Good to know. I'm mounting mine dead center of the tss on my Sport with the Pro grill. Did you have to remove the grill in order to drill? Does it sit flush? Pics if you have them please.

So this has been bugging for two months or so and I've just gotten around to addressing it.

I have this setup, and when I put the truck in reverse, my rear camera doesn't automatically come in like it used to.

I can still press mode 2x and get both cameras to come on, however its an extra step that wasn't needed before.

I've taken the dash apart and unconnected/reconnected the module, still doesn't display rear cam on reverse.

Has anyone else ran into this issue, or have any ideas? I don't look forward to trying to warranty it, as the seller requires you to have the original box and packaging in order to accept the warranty.

Install went great, took about an hour. No issues, simple plug and play with the hardest part was fishing the wires. I didn't take the grill out, I measured for the spot to drill the hole and used a small drill bit as a guide.

I haven’t had that issue. What happens when you take the car solutions unit out of the equation? Does your reverse camera function as normal?

What camera did you use in the front? Did you cut the wrong wire or did you cut the cut the wire at all? I have the Natika and it requires you to cut the white wire to use it as a front camera. Did it work fine at first then just started acting up?

Now you got me wondering if you could put a dash cam behind the grill instead of a camera.

I would think that you would be reducing camera field of view. And also have more obstructed views due to the lower height. And lastly, most cameras probably can't protect against road dirt, grime and moisture.

Nope. Works fine 2x mode press, and can swap front/rear, but I do not get camera on with reverse.

I ordered through their website, so I doubt I can get a warranty w.o box etc etc.

I have yet to pull the dash to try w.o the unit hooked up.

Has anybody done any work on making these front and rear cameras into recorders like a dashcam? I tried searching the site for any info, but I couldn't find any info.

I think the angle might be too low to capture anything useful but you could try to split the signal into a device that can record. Not sure if that would work but it might be worth a try.

Based on using my anytime front and rear cameras I think the depth of field/field of view of something like that wouldn't work very well. Basically if there's a car 50' behind you it might as well not be there whereas dedicated dash cameras can capture stuff further out.

It will probably be more for insurance purposes more than anything else. Any box that I install will have to get passthrough to the head unit, get power from the truck uninterrupted, and record on loop. Not trying to make a highlight reel, but it will be better than nothing for insurance. I was looking at the garmin dash cam tandem, but it looks like it records more of the interior than anything else out the rear window.

Agree, been looking for a recording option for the rear camera as well.

I know it sounds like a pain but I would recommend using the rear and front cameras for their intended purpose (visual spotting for parking, 4wheeling, etc…) and install dash cameras to record stuff front and rear. The angle of the front and rear bumper cameras really don’t provide a good angle to record anything useful. Just my .02 though.

Oh yeah, I don't plan on moving the cameras or interrupting their ability, hence why I want to use a pass through. It's just a little bit of insurance in case say somebody backs up into my truck and says that I rear ended them. Doesn't have to be great resolution doesn't even have to be good. Just enough to prove that they are at fault.
