Changed my front diff, transfer case and manual transmission fluid. I use Lucas.
I'll do the rear diff in a few weeks but will just use Super Tech or Valvoline GL5. I rarely tow and it usually looks like a waste of good fluid when I change it, but the oil companies need my money.

Again, in my opinion, you are exactly correct, Splitting hairs? maybe, but your scenario is a good one. & I don't think any questions would be asked

I just got a call from my tire guy. I am running 5100s with 884s on the front and add a leafs of the back. We noticed our 265/70/16 were looking pretty bad after 6.5 years so we decided to celebrate the new flares with larger tires. My tire guy just got back to me and says we can go as high as 285/75/16! 32.8 x 11.2 inch tires, with only minor rubbing on the inner fender at full lock offroad.

I will get some photos of that when I get the truck back. I am pretty excited about this news.

What brand are your 265/70/16s? I'm looking for a used BFG K02 and will gladly pay shipping+ if it has any kind of half way decent tread.

I've seen some aluminum bumpers crack at Thier welds from light offroading. Not sure if it was a problem with the weld strength, but it wasn't just 1 manufacturer that I've seen it happen with. The stock mounts also flex alot especially in recovery situations where your using a winch or snatch strap on the bumper.
If your concern is weight look into full tube or hybrid bumpers. And if your building your own, I'd suggest cutting off the lower crossmember and reinforcing higher up to gain extra clearance.

The old tires are General Grabber AT2, and I loved them! Great tire. Sadly, the sidewalls are so rotted I would not feel comfortable selling them.

    Sorry.

Yeah, thanks anyway. I'm trying to match a BFG anyway. Seems most of them are 265/75 in 16 inch so I'm having a tough time. I'm putting a wrecked truck back on the road so don't want to buy a complete set until I know the truck is truly worthy. But thanks for the response.

Eaton, didn't want to deal with adding a compressor.
