TSB spring vs. AAL

Would they accomplish the same thing as far as ride and height?

 

I would say so

 

Yes but the tsb springs were meant to improve payload. AAL is only for height and possibly ride comfort. The tsb has all the above; payload,height and ride.

 

What is the rear TSB? Why does everyone talk about it and the dealer? I have a 2010 trd sport I just got in august, does mine have the tsb already done? or should i ask them to do it at my 5k service

 

Not height... the TSB springs settle to about 1" of lift.

Most AAL's are 1.5" or 2".

 

Search leaf spring TSB and you'll find more than you need.

If you have 4 leafs in the back, you have TSB already preformed. If you have 3, you do not have the TSB performed. If you bought it new, then you definitely don't have the TSB.

Yes you can. I dont know where in Oregon you are. But I had mine done Gladstone Toyota in Milwaukie when I had 3K on my truck.

 

You could, just call the dealer and tell them the ride is harsh. My dealership didn't give me much objection to getting it done.

 

I just got done doing the Toytec Non - TSB AAL's a couple weeks ago, along with 5100's all around. I set the fronts on 2.5" and the AAL was supposed to add only 2" to the rear. My truck has an A.R.E. contractor cap,a couple 24 foot fiberglass ladder, plus a few hundred pounds of equipment. Before the AAL I had 34" to the inside of the fender flare. After the AAL we had right at 38" giving us a 4 inch lift. In order to try and get it to settle, there is 200 pounds of sandbags in the back also. Not sure if this is normal, and not really a big deal as we haul alot and can use the extra support,but 4 inches of lift might be an issue to someone expecting just 2 inches out of a set of AAL's.

 

That's definitely not normal. Could you take a picture of the leaf setup so we can take a look?

 

The reason I asked is I would like eventually going to a 265/75/17 tire on the next replacement, and would also like to do some 5100s set at .85 to get a little more room up front. That would mean doing something on the back for a little more height, but I don't want to go crazy, and would like the ride to stay within reason. I also don't know if they would do the TSB on an '05 at this point. I've never bottomed out on my springs, loaded or otherwise.
