Hate to say it but the LC in the states has been on its way out. Unfortunately.

I have a 100 and 120 series. They are comfy and plush. Built to last 300k+ miles. V8 engine sounds amazing.

What a gorgeous car though. I drove one a couple of years ago. Incredibly solid, decently quick and that engine made glorious sounds

Agreed they are awesome. Hard to swallow that price though. I wouldn't mind snagging a used one but I like the 70 series much better. If I'm dropping that kind of $ I'd rather import

From what I’ve heard the new Tundra/Tacoma will share the F frame platform which is designed for a six cylinder.

They will share different versions of the same platform. The Tacoma will still be much smaller. The 3.5 TT in the Tacoma would put it's price point out of it's target range. Some version of the current 2GR will power the Tacoma.

I do expect a turbo 4 might find it's way to the Taco at some point

    You'll see a turbo 4 before you see a V8.

As much as I would love the power and acceleration of an eight cylinder, I from a personal standpoint we have to question the purchase. Since the current regime took office in mid January gasoline where I live has gone up approximately $.85 a gallon. It is sniffing at three dollars for regular gasoline and by the time this message gets posted it will probably be over three dollars. At the rate it has been going up, it is showing no signs of slowing down.

With the above said, I’m somebody that puts probably close to 24,000 miles a year on my truck. it is my work truck and daily driver. It is not a trophy truck that is garaged and used for say as a weekend cruiser. I wouldn’t consider myself “cheap“, but would rather more miles per gallon than less. I have all the speed exploration I want in my Corvette and Camaro. Just don’t need it in my pick up truck.

    Just my humble opinion.

My 2004 GX470 gets 2-3 mpg better than my 2018 Tacoma did.

It's hard for people to understand that concept because the auto industry is so tricky with ratings. A higher power engine puts out less energy to do the same job. Even Top gear did this with an M3 vs a prius and M3 did better, lol

I totally get that, I was going to mention it in my above post. Just didn’t want to get into all the details in that regard. My Corvette I’m a 6 1/2 hour trip where I didn’t jump on it at all average 30 miles per gallon. However on that same trip in reverse I did get on it a little bit in the miles per gallon of course was less.

So yes, if you feather the gas drive ultra conservatively Your gas mileage certainly would thrive more. But have to ask, who actually drives like that?

My 1994 Firebird Formula LT1 V8 6 speed manual. That thing got 25mpg+. Big engine, light weight.

I did identical drives in my F150 and my F350. My F150 was rated at 18mpg and my F350 was rated at 15mpg. Over a 2200 mile drive my F150 5.4 triton engine averaged 14mpg which included 200 miles of mountain ranges each way. The F350 with 900 ftlbs of torque and 2000lbs more weight averaged 18.6

Imagine the gas mileage threads if they added a V8 option.

Yeah....I'm not in that tax bracket either.

Although my uncle used to say...."you can live in a car. But you can't drive a house".

This, especially with California's new fucking no gasoline engine shit coming in. They've already made us the first state for not building new gas stations
