Yeah, like around 99.7% of them. Salesmen are just the middle man (or woman).

That's odd and confusing. Maybe the manager is referring to the lien holder/ insurance company on a vehicle you traded in?

Check your paperwork from the dealership. The finance dept. should have given you registration documents or something to that effect and probably had you sign something that they would handle the registration for you.

I would call your insurance company and have them confirm who the lien holder is on the title. i.e. Toyota Financial or whatever bank you financed through and have them resend that info to the dealer. (Verify the leinholder that's listed on your binder)

I don't understand why the finance dept. or dealer can't take care of that on their own.

Maybe the financing fell through and they're trying to get you to come back in. Who knows.

I had a dealership do something like this, tell me that my finance company was closed and we couldn't close the deal today (and I couldn't get my price) unless I used their financing. I negotiated a good price on the truck and there was no loan origination or early pay off fee, so I told them "whatever". I refinanced with my bank the very next day, I think I paid their bank a total of maybe $1.50 in interest. If their finance company gave them a kickback, their bank ate it, because they didn't make any profit off my loan.

I had financed my previous truck through a credit union, and that dealer's finance guy said "I'll try but usually their rate is too good for me to hit".

This one, I was sitting down listening to the sales guy's spiel and all along thinking "Let him go through it, he's just doing his job, then drop the credit union on him"..he gets to "I ran your credit, I know you must know you have great credit, and I have good news for you"..just getting ready to open my yap and he said "you have approval for 0.9%". I shut up :)

Truck had under 7000 miles on it so I was ok with that.

I double checked the insurance binder they sent me. The lien holder is listed. I could point this out to them, but I'd rather let them do their jobs and figure it out. Maybe then they'll realize the caliber of employee they have on their hands

I didn't trade anything in. I double checked everything, as mentioned above the insurance company has the lien holder, the dealership just doesn't know what they're doing apparently. Maybe they'll figure it out. I'm not gonna worry about it, it's just funny all things considered

    Yeah.
Sounds fishy. Maybe I missed it, are you agreed on who the lien holder should be? Sounds like it might not have the lien holder they want. If you are on the same page as far as financing, then yeah, they sound pretty incompetent.

We ended up going with the same lien holder they tried to push on me over the phone. I assumed we would, but I wasn't agreeing to a lender without sitting down and discussing the available options. So yes, it's just incompetence.

    1. Go to any dealer that has a Taco that you want to test drive. Manual/Auto TRD/Sr5
    2. Email every dealer in your state or as far as you are willing to travel to get a price quote and list out exactly what you want. You want to just order the truck and be patient to wait a few months. Or maybe they can find one but who cares, just be patient.
    3. Pin the dealers that respond against each other until you get the best price. You can let them know that might fiance but are exploring options. But don't do any paperwork for a credit check unless you are sealing the deal. Everything can be done via internet, no need for entry level sales guys to waste your time.
    4. Put the deposit down and wait.

I only stepped foot in one dealer to drive a few tacos, and then again 2 months later at another dealer to take delivery of my own vehicle. I eliminated any chances of being swindled or them wasting my time with games.
