Damn bro...time to think about winterizing. That includes the sprinkler systems. Can't risk it. The worst part, our homes weren't built to withstand these temps. I hope new home projects right now have time to rethink their builds.

Unfortunately, the rate of houses being built cant even remotely keep up with demand. What this really means is that they arent doing anything different due to extreme winter weather. In fact, its probably going the other direction quality wise since they cant build them fast enough.

Only in Austin would I see a guy with a 12" beard, a Neo/Matrix long coat, and a Marvin the Martian style helmet riding a stand-up electric scooter in traffic on Manchaca Rd.

Still keeping it weird around here, I see.

    Wouldn't you like to know!

We just had our pre-drywall inspection and they wrap all of the pipes in the garage and said we could add more of our own insulation to the garage if we wanted to do it ourselves but it's not code to add more insulation there for the builders.

Adding it yourself will be the cheapest insurance you will ever buy, literally, young man.

I saw a guy dressed as Waldo on Enfield near the Mopac entrance/exit ramps just yesterday. His outfit was pristine.

I'm on it!!! Luckily my co-worker had some extra insulation from his garage apartment that he just built so I scored some at the cost of a couple boxes of girl scout cookies. Gonna go install tomorrow morning

Good man. My deal was just slightly better than yours; I hadn't cut the deposit check yet for the new casa, and I told the sales guy I wanted the garage fully insulated, not just the part that shared a common wall with the house. He balked, I reminded him of no check yet, and this:

    became this:

Damn. Wish I would've thought about this when we were building. This and sound insulation around our bedroom. Apparently I'm a screamer.

Just kidding. But sound insulation would've been nice.

Well I started at least! I think I have until Monday to finish up the other side and the front about garage door. Never done insulation before so it's been a learning experience

You may want to do a quick Googly search on the proper application of Kraft backed insulation...
