Per RSI they are hoping to have the new locks available 4th quarter this year. If they charge anything for these, we believe it will be minimal. These new locks, from what we've been told, should allow you to open from the inside and hold up better in the colder climates. We'll post more details once RSI provides us with additional information.

Question for all you rsi owners, I am really tempted to replace my KBvoodoo max bed rack with one of these RSI smartcaps, My current setup in the rear I have mounted some Baja squads for extra backup lighting. I have been through many of these posts and have not seen any owners that have mounted any lights on their RSI racks. I am thinking I might have to ditch the extra backup lights if I was to purchase a RSI. I also want to switch to an RSI because most of the canopys really cannot support the weight of 2 people in a tent, these are really solid. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you're mounting a tent up there, you'll need the RSI load bars, RSI rack, Prinsu rack, FrontRunner rack, some kind of rack or bars to support the tent. You can easily mount lights to that. Companies like Baja Designs also make very bright and very compact lights so you could easily mount something around your tailgate or bumper. Meso has that cool new hitch pod mount for a single Baja Designs S1 even. RSI rates the caps at 330lbs dynamic and 770lbs static.

    Looks really good.

Maybe it’s the angle of your picture, but the gap from cab to cap seems less than what I have. 5ft bed as well. Would you mind posting either a picture of the gap, or a pic on the tailgate side so I can see if mine was centered as best it could be?

Are you able to close the tailgate with the back window of the cap in the closed position? I can open mine, but closing it puts some pressure against the seal. It’s also balls cold outside lately and maybe in the summer once the seal warms up / breaks in it will by more pliable.

I was hoping for quick loading/unloading of groceries or whatever, I can keep the cap locked up and unlock the tailgate w/ the fob, toss in whatever, close it and be on my way.

So I’m flush at the bottom front. Attached are the photos of the front the back and then the interior back to show how much tailgate is between the seal and edge. I can still open my tailgate with the topper closed without too much trouble and it still has a good seal.

No problem, Yeah I can close the tailgate with the topper closed. I think it’s just personal preference where you want it. I liked it as close to the cab as possible without any chance of rubbing. I also wanted just enough seal on the tail gate so I could open and close it with the topper closed if I needed to.

Perfect, that’s exactly what I’m looking for. I’ll probably adjust mine today.

First day I had the topper we got a dusting of snow, I brushed most of it off but as soon as I backed up and pulled forward the remaining snow all fall in between that gap and piled up.

I think no gap would reduce that from happening.

I think the top should be longer. The lack of coverage over the gate doesn't look right at all.

I guess since it’s not fiberglass it’s not going to have a form fitting back. There’s always going to be tailgate sticking out since the tailgate is not flat across. Like I said my tonneau cover fit almost identical. About 2” of coverage on the tailgate. Doesn’t bother me I guess. I’d rather maximize my interior space even if it’s only an inch.

Took it out ice fishing today and got some good photos. Doesn’t look too bad from a distance.

Just for info my SmartCap on a 6.5ft bed F150 weighed in at 244lbs on my digital hanging scale. Too much for this old man to handle half of that chest high. Maybe once- but I've had 4 hernias and really don't want to make it 5:militarypress:

Caps that are in stock typically ship in 2-3 business days from time of order. They ship on a pallet via truck freight so takes a few days to palletize and have the truck collect it. Transit times vary, but to VA best estimate is 2-4 business days.

Calling you here momentarily to add those on!

We ship to Canada. Not sure there are any Canadian RSI dealers. Investigating that now for you.
