What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

3rd gen wheels on 2nd gen Tacoma!

 

Installed my new OME BP-51 lift kit the other day. At the moment I think it’s about a 2.5in lift with room to go higher. Running a 285/75/16 on 3rd gen TRD pro wheels now too. So stoked with the outcome!

You rubbing at all with that? I'm at about 2.5/2.75 and want to put 285/75 on mine next.

 

Living in the North East is like living in a salt shaker . I cleaned these and repainted them this past summer I cleaned them off and wiped them down with Krown rust prevention for the time being . Winter not over yet

 

I am in the same boat. Upstate NY. I strip and paint my sliders yearly.

 

What do you use to strip them ? I’ve just been sanding what I can

 

I feel you. Since your going to re-coat them anyway, maybe try converting the rust this time, to see if it helps.

I truly don't get the salt mentality... WHY use salt? There are plenty of places west of the Mississippi that get tons of snow and ice and they use sand, even recycling it from year to year... and the vehicles out west are scavenged for body parts to be shipped back east. I knew a guy in Arkansas that made a living by taking good bodies north and bringing good drivetrains south.

 

Converted my truck to full time AWD last night using a manual transmission FJ cruiser t-case. Used Tacoma 5spd automatic trans 4wd driveshafts and the FJ cruiser TRD shift knobs. Ended up looking pretty close to factory. Since i already had an FJ case in there, this was basically a bolt up swap. Drove it to work this morning and and so far i am loving it. No more spinning the rear tires all the time, it just goes now

I have a friend that can sand blast, and its worth the ~100 bucks I give him for it. I have used sand paper and stripping disks in the past but it takes too long.

It seems like my area East central N.Y. goes absolutely salt crazy. The roads are white with it until rain washes it away . Some municipalities also spray the liquid brine down before the salt

 

Especially when the sliders are welded to my frame . Makes it more difficult.

 

Seat delete/platform and sound deadened the back wall.

 

Try living in south central PA. They use salt brine before even the smallest snowfalls. Then when it does snow, half the time they only put down salt on top of it instead of plowing. And when they do plow, apparently they put Stevie Wonder behind the wheel of the plow trucks.

 

Mine are doing that and I live in Washington lol

 

Finally went for a set of those bumper cap plate fillers. I got a "blemished" set. They look perfect to me.
