Yeah that's a big help here - just talk to the neighbors. The amount of shenanigans in this world that could be eliminated by "did you ask your neighbor if...." etc is ridiculous.

BUT If you're a fan of reddits LegalAdvice subreddit, "tree law" is a hot topic, so it's good to be on the same page. I am fortunate - I have zero trees on my property (in the 'burbs, if I was in the country I'd want a forest back there on 10 acres).

I have the same problem. So I made a sign that says “In Meeting Do Not Disturb”, laminated it and hang it on one of those magnetic retractable caution tapes across the doorway.

I'm guessing Verizon Fios? I went from Verizon DSL to Comcast last summer, Fios isn't available. DirecTV is the biggest bunch of assaches I dealt with, though I agree in general that they don't really care.

I was blessed in that way, first b/c we get along well and second that he was smart enough to see benefit to us both. I had a limb hit the bed of my truck a couple of years ago from the tree, and his house wiring is 6 feet away from the tree on his side so if something fell there it's ripping his power off. I did suggest if he wanted to survey it as an option b/c I wasn't sure and I showed him the paperwork town hall had for both our houses, but he said "that's not worth messing around with, let's split the cost of the estimate you feel is best".

Ridiculous that people can't see that you're on the phone though.

I feel like most people would be like that if you just talk to them. My neighbors wanted to put in a bathroom addition over the fence. Now, because it would be close to my property line, they had to go for a zoning...variance, I think is the legal term, anyway - because of that, the town had to mail me prior to the meeting etc etc. My neighbor just talked to me, no worries I couldn't care less, they tore out a butt load of pine trees that were blocking good sun!

Bad news for them though, those pine trees they ripped out was because a few years back (we were actually in Florida on vacation) one came down and took out their pool.

    upload_2021-3-2_19-22-6.jpg

This is it from Zillow when we bought - all those tall trees on the left there (3 in frame) we had about 7 - 8 along the fence in their yard. I don't care - but damn, was it nice to get a butt load of sun and a butt load less leaves and needles! We moved in Sep 17 and they ripped those out Spring of '18, we lucked out.

PS (since I am completely sidetracked already anyway), that one picture of the backyard was on the zillow listing. Thank god they took horrible pictures, because our house was a steal, huge back yard (relative to the area) and they only took this one picture of it. The rest of the pictures were meh at best.

We only landed here because it was an open house and we were closeby for another one we were looking at. Mother in law was with us and her intent was to tell us to cool it, we can rent another year and get the right house after - we toured this one, "buy it". Stars aligned, everyone was happy, we got a steal and a great place.

Had a tall pine snap about 10-15 up this morning as I was working from home; shook the whole house and took some smaller trees down with it. Luckily it was away from the house but I got a fuckload of cleanup.

Earlier this year national grid preventively took down 3 trees along the road over the berm of my side yard and just left the wood there. They said the town would be by to pick it up. one tree was taken by neighbors for firewood, the rest is sitting there rotting on the side of the road with neither party taking responsibility.

I had the same thing - NGrid came through town and cut down a bunch of trees over the power lines as a preventative maintenance. They left the wood and the Town will not gather (South Central MA). I posted on the local facebook group about free firewood and posted a picture of it - had a guy here in about a day and took it all away. Most guys who want the wood don't want to get into legal trouble, but if you make it knows its free for the taking, they will come haul it away from your property.
