Anyone had a suggestion on how to get a battery wedged back into a Sportster? The negative cable placement will not let me get it the final 1/2" back into the frame slot.

aesthetically I actually kinda like the look, would look good on your bike, plus if you drop it less to worry about...

Ive also lost my balance one or two times in the driveway/parking lot and laid a couple bikes on their side unintentionally so, the added protection does help as well...

lol like even just throwing a leg over a bike to just sit on it can be a real bad idea when drunk... :anonymous:

I suppose I was being a bit of a smart ass in my reply.....seeing as for the Yamaha FJR1300 what tip over protection is available isn't quite in the same style as what is available for a Harley.

That being said, if I were a Harley owner and were to install them I would lean toward one of the HD engine guards that can fit the "soft lowers" they make. In doing so you can get tip over protection year round and when it's cold or rainy put the soft lowers on and gain some protection for you as operator.

Sounds good! I would usually try and go for longer rides on the weekends but I'm currently house hunting on the Westside so I am rarely in Pullman for more than 4-5 days at a time.

I thought id want an Africa Twin, but dont want to waste it riding around town. My friend that has an adventure bike only rides twice a year.

Its definitely fun getting on gravel, but not sure if id like a full time adventure bike. Im still weighing options, and there are plenty out there. Definitely going used or year old after this one. My problem is, I don't have space.

On ADV bikes, yes. On other bikes no UNLESS you're using them as highway pegs too hah. Sliders for non-ADV IMHO.

They're great commuters. Upright riding position is comfy, tons of wind and elements protection, hand warmers, luggage for your laptop or lunch or whatever.

The crash bar I made for uhplifted was meant to double as a freeway pegs. He’s like 6’4” so he needs the extra stretch on long rides.

speaking of adv bikes, the Panamerica is growing on me and I might test ride one when they come out.

Do not tighten the ground cable until the battery is almost all the way in the compartment. The ground cable must be pointing near straight down or it will contact the far side on the compartment and prevent the battery from going in the last inch.

Thanks! it's tricky because it's so tight on the 48. The battery goes in on the left-hand side but the negative post is on the right-hand side.
