There can be a lot going into doing a axle swap. I have started doing this and learned quickly not to throw anything out after the swap is done. You may need those pieces for the next swap.
Different manufacturers pose different problems as well. Hot Wheels can be the hardest it seems where M2s are easiest. (so far)

Paint is done. Now I need to break out the fine tip paint brush and work on the details.

Have you tried the metallic Sharpies? Easy than brushing them in most cases and less mess. Look better too. They come in silver, brass and copper colors.

Its probably been mentioned, but I had a brain storm to make a mini Sand-Blaster out of a small air brush Paint Sprayer to remove the stubborn paint.

This is what 40 years of collecting looks like. This room is for my keepers. The garage has about a third more that will be going to the swap meets this summer. I had already sold off a lot previously. I am also involved with Nostalgia drag racing which would explain the all photographs. The artwork in the pictures are mine (color) and Ian Jones (b/w) He is known as the Hot Rod Pencil. The 1/18 57 Gasser wasn't in these shots but is my centerpiece now. Something goes in then something has to go out. That keeps me grounded on adding any more.dec20 pics 054.jpg dec20 pics 055.jpg dec20 pics 057.jpg dec20 pics 240.jpg

Man that's really incredible! I could sure spend a few minutes in that room looking around. So nice of you to share with us.

Another wheel swap complete, got the white wheels from a $.94 walmart buy. I think looks way better than stock red.

This is a 39 Chevrolet Master Deluxe that I Pro streeted in the 80s. The 70s Comet is a die cast 1/24 that was to nice to mess with. The 76 Gremlin is straight out of the box build. The 66 Monterrey is an older kit from the early 90s. I was a stock build so I swapped out the wheels. I get most of my parts for wheel swaps and engines from buying boxes of parts and screwed up kits at the flea markets cheap. dec20 pics 088.jpg dec20 pics 104.jpg dec20 pics 109.jpg dec20 pics 112.jpg dec20 pics 113.jpg

Trying to add some black to the turbine wheels using a sharpie and then wiping it off with qtips... not coming out how i want. Might have to try paint....
