Looks like that might exceed parameters a touch for landing. Maybe a turn during helo ops prior takeoff?

You can see chains in that picture????? Damn my old eyes.. Why would they be chocked, chained, and SPREAD while fueling? We don't spread until we're ready to start, and not normally until either we've steadied up on the flying course, or don't expect any major manouvres to get there...

Note: in situations requiring MOPP kit having a couple of 2Lts around is ideal for testing if the “all clear” is accurate.

I had one utter the magical phrase that makes all NCOs cringe, “it’s been my experience that...” Thankfully he was attentive and intelligent enough to understand me when I explained that the E2s and E3s he was running that past had already been promoted at least once and he hadn’t. He learned fast to rely on the “trust but verify” system with his Sr.NCOs. We all shot it to him straight with as much explanation as to why as we could. He glued himself to us and learned the job and became our favorite because he wasn’t afraid to roll up his sleeves and put in the work shoulder to shoulder with his joes. Sad to see him leave us but we knew his next command was getting a shit hot field officer.

I had to babysit 7 2LTs at the same time once while serving as a unit superintendent. Then we got an 8th, and I got excited when he in-processed through me because he had 3 rows in his ribbon rack, and two deployments in there. Prior enlisted! I immediately deputized him to help me teach his “peers” how to officer.

One of the things I manage is our PAT (Personnel Awaiting Training) platoon; typically ~100 enlisted and 30-40 A/SLt (2nd Lt for you army folks)... some of them are very entertaining, and yes, the first thing I look for is the guy (or gal) with ribbons and/or grey hair!
