Took out two pioneer shallow mount subs and installed just one JL Audio 10-W3v3-4ohm sub and it is perfect! Running 400 Watts to the sub which is in its optimal range and so far I am very pleased! I got my storage space back behind the seat and did not lose a beat on the Bass.

If anyone is thinking about installing subs I would highly recommend this one. I got the box from supercrew sound with the extra mounting depth and the box fits perfectly behind the seat.

Going for a drive now :)

That's good to hear. I know I want to keep some space for storage too. In comparison to the 2 shallow mounts, it sounds like are you getting the same amount of bass from the 1 JL. Do you mean that it hits as hard or that it goes as low as the others?

...and you know we want to see some pics. :)

    Merry Christmas!

Getting very clean sounding and deep bass out of the JL vs. The shallow mounts. The shallows were great had them 2 years or so and loved them just wanted the storage space and good bass still so went with JL, The pioneer shallows were a great price and having two back there really hit well. I woulda went with a normal pioneer woofer if it woulda fit the mounting depth but it did not

JL makes some very nice speakers. Subwoofers and amplifiers are theyre specialty. However, ask any audiphile about them and most will say theyre way overpriced. I think theyre entry level stuff like the W0, W1, and even W3s are very reasonably priced. Theyre amps are expensive. But they put out a lot of power and are super clean. If I put an aftermarket sound system in my truck, I will use JL subs and amplifiers.

They do home audio too. Their "Gotham" subwoofer enclosure retails for around 12k.

I had JL Audio sub and custom built enclosure in my F-250 and it was the cleanest sounding sub I have ever used.
When I change out the sytsem in my 2010 I will definitely use them.

Regarding your sig, Them damn Woodchucks piss me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My wife gives me shit for cussing the woodchucks out every time I see that commercial. I said shit:
    • cut down a tree
    • sut it into 2-3 foot sections
    • split the wood
    • stack the wood out back
    • then bring the wood up to the house when needed
Thats alot of work and to see them F_ _ king Woodchucks throwing it in the water pisses me off :)

I tell my wife I know its just a commercial but them damn woodchucks still piss me off.:)

LMAO! thats pretty damn funny, its also funny when he catches them and they throw on more log before taking off haha.

So I got the sub installed and now I am pissed I lost my redpoint knife during the install. Been looking for it all morning..

I checked out the boxes on supercrew did you buy the one with the extra 5/8" depth or the regular? I looked at the dimensions of the 10w3v3 and it looked too deep to fit in the regular box. I've got a jl box now but am thinking of changing boxes so I can get it off the floor and behind the seat.
And if you did get the larger box did it still fit behind the seat without major cutting? Thanks

Yea I added the 5/8" depth to the box and it fits perfectly behind the seat still. You gotta looses the seats anchors though to get the box in there but thats not a big deal.

As far as the sub goes I get very clean sounding and enough bass for my taste, The two pioneers were more bass overall and still very clean sounding but I am happy with my storage space and a little less bass

QUESTION: The guys at SuperCrewSounds said I only had to get rid of the "bolt brackets". I think that's the 4 little brackets used for the bolts that hold the black plastic trays in....is that correct? Is that what you meant when you said "seat anchors"? Or is there something I'm confused about?

Also, did you leave the plastic seat-backs on?

    Pics???

    Thanks
    Hutch

My terms may be incorrect however I refer to seat anchors by being the thick metal loop that the rear seats lock into, when you have to pull up on the fabric loop to pull the seat forward. Those you leave alone. The brackets for the plastic bins you do remove yes.

Plastic is still on the seat and does not interfere

I think everyone should just ditch the plastic bins they take up more room than anything, my storage space without them is awesome.

I would give the JL a very good clean sounding bass however I lost the rumble of bass that I had with the 2 10" pioneers. Bass is a little less harder however I am still very pleased with it..

I would think 2 10" JLs would be too much, Hell I even thought the 2 pioneer shallows was a bit much at times with certain songs
