If you had to use one, which one would you use?

 

Also should be noted, the DesertDoesIt seat jackers and the original seat have pins to prevent rotation at that joint. The two bolts OP's bracket have no pins to prevent rotation

 

Sure has been fun watching all these comments. And man I love the comfort of my truck now.

 

Do what you want. That said, I wouldn't trust them. The weld might hold, but in the event of an accident will tear the base metal right off. You've created a point at which too much leverage can be applied to the seat jacker, and the main section that bolts to the truck body isn't sleeved so even if the weld holds, that whole piece of tube will crush.

I skipped most of that, I gotta check it out now, I started reading a bunch of opinions that I didn't agree with.

I wonder if any of these commenter's know how thick of steel that seat track is made out of? Or how big the steel is that stops the seat from sliding in its track? I saw something about a 20,000 pound force or something like that too. I wonder if any of them have smacked their head with a 20,000 pound force in a car wreck? Lmao

 

piss poor engineering is piss poor engineering.

 

I'm sure you would be fine in 90% of crash scenarios, if they snap the belt is anchored to the body and you have air bags.

But there is no way, as a grown adult, I would put something that shoddy looking in any vehicle I own.
They look like something a teenager with no money would put in their truck.

Fact of the matter is, that track has been tested. That steel that stops the seat has been tested. If OP gets in a crash, and manages to live, I guarantee his insurance company is gonna tell him to get f'ed.

If I don't have the ability to professionally crash test the part, I'm damn sure gonna make it as strong as I'm able to make it. Not paper thin square tubing with a questionable weld. But hey, to each their own. I just hope he has the courtesy to not put anyone else in that seat.

 

You can have material that is paper-thin and incredibly strong if it's engineered correctly, which I, and a number of others here contend that the OPs are not. If you're a structural engineer and can offer a contradictory opinion based in fact, by all means, please share. On the topic of the seat tracks; note the shape of it; those bends give it a strength many times that of a piece of flat, or square stock. There is also the nature of the metal itself. It appears to me that the OP has purchased some inexpensive thin-wall square tubing, which will have a very low shear strength. I have no idea what the steel in the seat tracks is made of, but I'm guessing it might be just a little better quality.

I had my say, I meant no disrespect, I provided facts to back up, my advice. Now I am just here for the humor.

 

This, folks, is how you trigger an engineer. And also get them all to crawl out of the woodwork to tell you it's a bad design.

But really, this is BAD.

 

I suspect it’s still going due to human nature. If human A sees human B wearing a blindfold walking towards the edge of a cliff, human A will try to intervene. If human B pushes human A away and says fu I’m comfortable, human B will still try to intervene.

Anything can be fixed but you can’t fix stupid.
