An update for anyone thinking they want to do this setup but are scared of the CMC. I don’t know if these Yokohama’s measure out smaller than these others guys brands but I still haven’t done a CMC and it’s completely fine I trimmed a very little corner off the inside of the fender flare and melted a piece of plastic and molded it back and everything else is just zip tied I’m very tempted to go 305 or 315 next and do the CMC and probably just have to cut a little bit of plastic out also I’m still on stock UCAs so no super crazy alignment setup

Maybe someone can help me here. I’m debating on getting some 295/70r17 Yokohama MTs. Did a search on what’s needed to clear them but nothing clear cut as to get no rubbing.

Currently truck is getting CMC and pinch weld done today. I have AAL and front lift on the way. Was there a lot of plastic that needed to be heated/trimmed?

I have a second gen with 295s and the fender liner had to be addressed. I cut mine but looking back i wouldve done the heat gun method and pushed it back as far as possible. I may end up buying some new fender liners and doing that at some point.

Mine also try to eat the fender flares at full stuff and lock but i dont know how much different the 3rd gen flares are. I have a 3” lift up front for reference

Good to know. I was looking at my 2nd gen photos and looking at my 3rd gen. Idk it seemed like 2nd gen had a bigger fender well up front but I could be wrong. I’m Guessing I’ll have to max my caster settings.

I’m not too sure about 3rd Gen clearance either but along with the CMC and pinch weld flattening, I had to trim the protruding groove on the liner where the pinch weld was and also the low corners of the fender flares.

I just found out this tire size even existed and now I'm regretting my 285s lol. Already have my CMC done on my second gen but my pinch weld needs some more beating. And the 7 month old 285s need to wear out I guess

I have a 2nd gen same wheel specs on 295/70r17 Yokohama Geolandar MT g003s 2.5 inches of lift in the front. I heated up the fender liner in the front of the wheel well and molded it back in one small area and ziptied the other bit of plastic back in the same area in the back of the wheel well beside the cab mount I trimmed a small piece of the fender flare off like so small you really wouldn’t be able to tell and I have like pretty much no rubbing and absolutely 0 rubbing with normal street driving I bought cab mount chop plates when I bought the tires and haven’t cut and welded them on yet and I really don’t think I will ive taken it up some pretty rough trails with lots of suspension articulation and hit the cab mount on the very edge of it like maybe 5 times it’s got to be like just perfect amount of flex and the way the wheels are turned to hit I can see a little bit of frame paint missing and I’m 99% sure the 3rd gens have more wheel well space than a 2nd gen so I would think you would be more than fine. I can take pictures and I may still have my alignment specs sheet I can show also. I’m still on stock UCAs so the alignment isn’t anything insane

Thanks for the info. I just had my cmc and pinch weld done last week so I think I’ll be ok. Will just have to hear and mold the plastic as you mentioned and maybe trim a little plastic. I’m doing the westcott lift in front and icon aal in the rear.

Did a little arts and crafts project the other day!
    :sawzall:

After a wheeling trip to Utah a while back I realized that with my wheel/tire combo (295/75r16s on 3.5 BS SCS F5s) on a ~2” lift, I rubbed bad. So I pulled the front flares on that trip and shittily trimmed the actual fenders...

After that I pulled the rear flares too and have been running the flareless look for a year and a half. Which looked great if you ignored the janky fender cuts.

Turns out that cutting wasn’t enough and I still rub the fenders at times at full bump and lock. So today I cut that shit more. Front only for now.

Because the flareless rear lines up perfectly with the rear HC bumper I am not trimming that.

I like the way it all turned out. Just don’t look too close or you’ll see all the fucking pinstripes and the dent on the lower front fender :anonymous:
