Cold start problems?

Hey TW, I have a 2000 yota with a v6 3.4 with 162,000 + miles in and just recently it started missing when I start it. Early in the morning it is the worse, it will not stall that long once you get up and go it goes away, but once it sits for an hour or so it acts up. I recently changed plugs (1 month ago NKG with wires) I replaced fuel filter (wix) and run high octane with lucus treatment. If anyone has any info please help me out, thanks.

 

Open the hood when you first start it when its cold and dark outside and see if there is any spark jumping at the plug coils/wires.

 

I have herd your problem happening if your oil is to thick. If your not using 5w-30 oil this may happen. The w in the 5w means winter for the cold.
twfsa probably has the fix for your problem.

 

I am using the NGK platinum, it is a single and the tip is pen point thin. I am using amsoil 10w30 because of the high milaege. I had never thought about my oil being to thick, but will take that into consideration. No spark when I open the hood at night, the only spark I saw was the neighbor blazing with his wife....

 

With the 3.4 motor, you should always run a plug with dual-leads.

NGK makes the standard replacement, and also theLaser Platinum model has dual leads too.

 

Let us know if the plugs fix the problem.

 

Thanks guys I will try a different set of plugs asap. I am also going to clean the injectors as soon as the holidays are over.
