I'd say it sounds a lot safer than trying to retap the hole and fit a different bolt/plug. A new pan sure would let me sleep better lol

Haha, for sure, me too. I have an ultragauge with the tranmission temp programmed into it. I've been keeping a sharp eye on it since.

The main reason the fluid was changed, was because my dumb ass accidentally pulled the wrong drain plug for oil.... after that, truck had been clunking at acceleration and stops. Changed fluid twice trying to follow the instructions for the correct amount in transmission. (jumped OBD ports) Hadn't noticed any problems since I changed out the fluid when I overtightened bolt. Luckily no problems when I went to MOAB without the ultragauge.

Wonder if @MOJoe80 can source a pan for fairly cheap?

If the boys are willing to assist and show me what to do. I've never done diffs... or spark plugs. (except plugs in a Grand Prix.)

The first couple days, the pan looked wet from leaking. I checked it regularly but it didn't look like it leaked anymore.

Sounds like the opposite of my old Ford. At least the centerline of that truck will never rust

Heh, definitely wanna get it replaced soon.

I feel it's waiting for the right time to wiggle free... like on a switchback on Black Bear..

54k miles and the only oil I've ever changed is the engine. Feels almost sacrilegious with the way some people talk on this forum

Need to do all of mine. Started procrastinating and then winter hit. Now that it's nicer I'm busy af.... :bananadead:

Just like my 85 yoter. Not a speck of rust underneath the body panels anywhere in front of the b pillars. Had multiple coatings of tranny fluid, oil, power steering fluid, etc...

as old as your truck is I would change everything. Mine's two years old with similar mileage

You know what they say, if it’s still leaking you know there’s fluid inside.. when it stops is when you need to be concerned :bananadead:

I did mine at 50k and 100k. My dad ran his 2007 Tacoma to 200k on original fluids. At this point I basically just change them when I notice it acting diff.

the rear diff is easy so I’ve done that one more, plus it gets more abuse towing

    Of course.

However, if that was the case, I would definitely be feeling those clunks from before which I do not.
