    Very good point.
I retract my previous statement. Physics is a construction of the patriarchy, and is racist as well.
I rebuke physics in the strongest possible way.

I believe the OP should immediately go into production of these glorious seat lifts, and they should be mandated in all tacomas on the road. In addition anyone refusing to use these should be deported or sent to re-education camps.

It's kind of like that old Denis Leary bit where he suggests solving the drug problem by giving unlimited drugs to the junkies and letting it sort itself out.

I mean you’re taking a risk with a lot of mods. We can all talk shit but lifting the truck makes it more likely to roll and I don’t hear anyone bitching at the dudes with 6” spacer lifts

I'm sitting stock, I don't call out those lifts so I don't get run out of town :D. I would never drive a 6" lift at highway speeds, yikes!

The difference between that and this is that most people doing those lifts aren't putting them in with paper clips and bubble gum. :deadhorse:

Eh, I would NEVER put a 6" spacer lift on my truck, and from what I've seen, dudes with janky 6" lifts get called out plenty. Nor would I install a homemade lift made from thin square tubing. I wouldn't have said a word about a seat jacker that looked sturdy, and well made.

Also, the initial threads were mostly pleasant, letting OP know his mods appeared relatively unsafe. There's a big difference between that and "calling him out".

The "issue" is all the holier than thou folks telling the OP in no uncertain terms how STUPID he is for even thinking about considering the possibility of attempting this. And assuming that his welds are going to come apart at the first jolt. Maybe some of you all have x-ray vision but I only see one weld in the pictures, but I sure can't see enough to go out on this limb... "How much you wanna bet he didn't even weld the bottom joint". You have no way of knowing that. All we can see is...well...what we can SEE.

Yes, the tubing could be thicker. Yes it could have been gusseted and capped to provide more stability. He could have even used solid bar stock for not much more cost, no longer than they are. BUT...he didn't. Does that mean it's certain to fail and send him through the windshield (and the airbag...and the seat belt)...NO. Does it mean that him and his seat are going to go bouncing around the cab...NO.

For one thing, it's possible the rear bolts are still unlifted/factory. Do they count for nothing in this end of the world/deathtrap dream you all have? Also, the front piece of tubing is smaller and lower to the floor and would be more resistant to this folding/crushing/laying down affect you're all so worried about. 30,000 LBF of force?? If that's the case then the bolts are going to break anyway...and so is the track and the little metal stop that "locks" the seat to the track. (I know....that's been crash tested).

If you have a concern or opinion, then yes...this is a DISCUSSION forum and an ongoing DISCUSSION. If you're going to talk down to a guy and bash him repeatedly, maybe you should just click the back button and go on by. It's like a child's mentality...I don't get it. "I know those other 17 guys told him it was a bad idea....but now I'M going to tell him it's a bad idea....but I'm gonna say it all shitty like. He'll listen to ME."

He heard ya!! We all heard ya!! Got it!! Your opinions and objections are noted, multiple times. Thank you.

    BOOM! Nailed it!

I wonder if they think their faceless nameless internet distanced cheap shots are actually affecting anyone? Lmao

Thank God I come from the Rambo family line otherwise I wouldn't have survived that 27,000 pound blow to my forehead when it smacked the steering wheel going from 70 mph to 0 mph instantly decades ago in my '69 Dart 340 GTS... OMG some of these replies are absolutely hilarious!!!

Sure you can, in fact it's easy to fix stupid. The problem is, the politically correct, overly sensitive weenies of the world have decided that it's called 'murder' and for some reason, it's bad. :(

LOL, 29,000...and change...get it right Rambo. Yea I wonder how these responses would change if we were all sitting around in one of our garages talking about this.

It's a sketchy mod. It would be irresponsible to not try our damndest to get him to change them when it could mean his life. Also, as far as that 30,000lb of force, you might want to do some more research on bolt strength. I believe those are an M12, and I'm assuming factory is a 12.9 bolt, that's about 176,000psi tensile strength. Spread across 4 bolts. Y'know, because real engineers designed them to keep the seat in the truck. Do you really think seats just go soaring through the air on mass produced vehicles?

If one of my friends showed me this mod, you bet I would call him a dumbass. I'm only seeing a few people in here riled up and it's certainly not the people saying the design looks like ass.

I'd be way more adamant if it was a friend showing me this mod. Do you sit around the garage and tip-toe around your friends feelings when they do dumb stuff? I know my friends and I never have. Is it so hard to believe that you'd tell a friend he was making a mistake?

Not hard to believe at all. In real life, I'd help him take them off and make them better. But since none of us are going to do that (most likely), we voice our concerns and go on with our lives. Like I said...he heard ya. And now you heard me. So I'm not going to keep beating this dead horse. My point is made.

Now hold on I was the one that used a physics calculator for a mass of 160 lbs wearing a seat belt.
I have already rebuked physics and a tool of the patriarchy and racist.
    What else would like????

I mean math and physics have no place here. Feelings. Feelings man!!!!

I feel like that will be great!!!!

I feel like physics doesn't apply to the op or anyone who denies physics. Its that simple.

Let us march into a glorious new world where feelings build bridges to a better safer more inclusive world!!!!!

That or this is some stupid bs, and the ones calling drama are the ones creating drama.

    Math is math.
