An RC transmission is also a good option in place of that RA.

Yes, Tundra and my wife's Land Cruiser, which shares a bit with the Tundra, including rear brakes. They'll likely last much longer on the Taco.

gonna bring this over here before the jd fanboys yell at us for talking non JD stuff.

What wheels specs are you running in the rear? Offset, width, tire size? I’m pushing 88-89” up front with my wheels/ tires. Haven’t measured the rear but currently running 1” spacers

    Yeah that's a good call.

Current wheels are SCS SR8 17x8.5. BS 4.30" offset -10. Tire width should be about 11.5".
Dang you're wide with those 37s haha.

Well with some rough math off your specs...

Per side, my wheel spec will push me out 1.1”, tire an additional 0.5”, but I can remove the 1” wheel spacers so only an additional ~0.6” per side.

Put me about 86-87” track width out back which means the front is still wider for proper handling characteristics. Maybe I’ll run a tape across the rear tires when I get home to confirm the rough numbers. Worst case I can throw my wheel spacers up front although I’d prefer not to be any wider lol. Already barely fit on my trailer.

either way I’m sure I’ll be hitting you up in the next month or two as my swap goes together.

Sounds good. Yeah if you need any hard measurements or any questions for that matter let me know. I am still working around a few things, but at the very least I should be able to provide some input. For sure though the WMS for a tundra axle is 71.5" so you should be able to base all your measurements off that.

Still too much snow, salt, and cold so not much progress, but I have been working on the front diff. Swapping over to the OEM 4.30 gears. I've decided on a trip to Yellowstone at the beginning of May so feeling a little bit more pressure to finish up the swap before then along with a shakedown run. I need to build a new rack for the tent as well :annoyed:

With the intention of covering up my wrap mistakes on the bedsides, I made some trim pieces out of HDPE this past weekend and used some fender washers I had laying around to mount them. I am not a fan of line-x so that's why I never had that done in the beginning. I was amazed how different the bedsides were shaped when doing so. ADV must still be using the same molds back when they formed them by hand. Original differential is out as well, so now I have a spare axle and differential to figure out what to do with

I think its time to part with my wheels. Going to be switching to a wheel with more backspacing.

Could you take some pics from the rear of the truck showing the axle width?

You know, I still have one ARB RD146 10.5" locker remaining on the shelf... could probably be persuaded to give you a great deal on it.

Yeah she is lol. We’ll see if I’ll be needing to trim my fenders up some more when I get around to swapping mine. I should still clear at just bump but articulation is where I may have issues. ECB58F8D-45CC-486C-B962-BF108C380E2B.jpg

Side question as I’m starting to gather my mental list of parts I’ll need to refurbish the axle up. Did you find brake rotors that worked or did you have them drilled for the taco bolt pattern as well?

I actually drilled them myself since I had enough of the hub to center the rotor. It was more for test fit purposes to ensure everything worked. One of the holes does overlap, but now I don't think I'm going to have them plugged.
