Built a platform out of 3/4” plywood today. All that’s left is to create some brackets to secure it to the seat bolts. I’m going to add D rings and carry a tote with all my spare fluids and parts back here. I want it very well secured so it stays put in case of an accident.

Finished up the platform today. I added L track, secured with 10-24 hardware and fender washers. Created some brackets that tie into the seat bolts and bolt to the platform with 3/8” stainless steel hardware. Overall I’m incredibly happy with how it came out. It’s rock solid.

He was a little apprehensive getting out since it’s a little high but he gives it his seal of approval.

Those are slick mounting brackets. Really nice!!

Is the platform secured with just these?

If so, would you be interested in fabbing up another set?

It has these 2x4’s under it for support, and these braces as well. You could ditch the horizontal 2x4’s and have it sit a couple inches lower but I needed the clearance for the cases you see under there.

I don’t want to make the brackets without a truck in front of me. Too many minor variables that could make them not line up. That said, I didn’t use anything fancy to make them. Cut them out with an a plasma cutter (which could be substituted for an angle grinder). Drilled the holes and bent them in my vice. No welding required.

I have a Dometic Fridge that I could sell you for $600. It would fit nicely on that new platform.:thumbsup:

No, but I have before with my old ones. I haven’t really noticed it help that much. Probably because they came off semi regularly

It certainly won’t hurt anything by adding it. Just don’t put any on the studs themselves.
