Do we have a locked in count yet? I know...2....Me and one other guy I'm bringing with

I'll be honest - selfishly between the two, I like being on the water. But if we have 17-something trucks that might be a bit iffy :spy: looks like cedar canyon is pretty much a glorified boat ramp with some extra parking???

I don't know any of these, not from the area, but looks like there are a few.

    upload_2021-3-4_16-43-40.jpg

and looks like there's one NW of Amarillo too

    upload_2021-3-4_16-44-30.jpg

and hell it looks like there's an RV park right at Big Texan (but, yeah I can see the want to be up on the lake!)

I've done rv parks in amarillo. Sucking I-40 fumes all night sucks donkey balls, and I'd rather not. Other than that I'm flexible.

Have a meeting I can't escape on the 17th, depending on workload I might escape on the 18th. Otherwise I'll be up there on Friday.

Sweet deal. I changed up my road trip plan, and now I am, in theory, getting in Saturday morning around 10 AM, on the plan. That said - I am basically high tailing it out of PVD after work Wednesday, and only stopping to check out some cities in TN and get some hot chicken, so I will probably cut some time off those legs and might get in Friday night.

Good point on the highway thing. I did rest stops for a while when I was driving in July. Hoping to avoid those a bit more on this road trip.

So after looking at satellite view of cedar canyon...thats not what I thought it was. I'm probably going to target McBride 1st, Mulinaw 2nd, Blue Creek 3rd.

I'm in and I believe @ducati is coming out from Yuma. I'll be there on Thursday afternoon, lemme know where to head to. I'd prefer not to listen to or smell I-40, I punched that ticket many moons ago hauling trash (spelled produce).

I am all in for not dealing with the highway. Fumes noise etc.

Let me see what I can work with for getting out there sooner. Might mean giving up TN as a stop on the way out but, I’m planning to be down there in the summer for MTB runs and the only reason to go was for the chicken. And I’d be going through St. Louis instead so at least there’s something. Unfortunately kcmo is way outside my route :( missing good bbq there.

I'll plan on shooting for those in order unless something changes. Granted we're over a week out but I'd rather be a step ahead.

The time of year helps too I think, I've looked at a few campsites for reservations and they're all wide open across the country. When I was doing similar in July it was slim pickins'

I'm trying to find as many waterfront spots as I can. I think I can pull off one, MAYBE 2 beach camping spots, depending what's allowed (I don't have a toi-let in the truck...I can get a bumper dumper but not sure that counts)

I didn't know we needed a youtube video for this.......

There's a camp site out on the beach on Cape Cod but you cannot go there unless you have a bog. You must be fully self contained. If I'm just out there for the night I can hold it until I get out on the road to a buckees or something else that makes me miss my home porcelain. But if I am not allowed to, that's a different story.

My popup came with the 2.5 gallon version of this:
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SFKJIQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_976H7VBGSDEDAJ9RZ34T

It was used once out of curiosity. Somehow I have always managed to find a better alternative. But it's nice to know it's there in case of possible bongwater emergency.

I'm with you, I try to get on the water as much as possible. Trying for that beach might get a little crowded tho. :D

Complaining about fumes of any sort seems kind of pretentious for a guy named "Garlic Farts".

 I am planning a few pretty sweet camp spots along the way, hoping that it being March when I go further up north through TN they might be less occupied and I can sketchily sleep there. I don't need to be on the water, it's probably better if my dog doesn't sneak off to swim before I'm in the cab with her all the way out to Los Angeles. :puke:

I don't know the area though, so I'm kind of hoping for some local knowledge.

It ain't my fumes I gotta worry about. That's y'alls problem.

I'm looking at the menu now. I'm not doing the challenge but I don't see anything garlic heavy. Oh well. I'm definitely eating my fair share though, probably two dishes I want to regret eating the volume I eat.

Amarillo unfortunately is a bit of a dead zone. There are some great spots in east OK/west AR, and I know some fun spots throughout the four corners. Hard to go wrong with most spots in northern TN, though I did get eaten alive last time I stayed at Shelby state park outside of memphis.
