I need help getting my truck in better running condition.

I should have been taking better care of my truck. When I got it, she was in perfect condition. Now, she's full of dents, cracks, rust spots, it makes all sorts of weird noises, and some body pieces need to be secured a little bit better, plus a lot more. I need to start fixing some of these things, but I really don't know what I'm doing or where to start. Is there anybody in IE/SD that wants to meet up and work on some stuff or something? I just need to be pointed in the right direction.

 

I know what you mean dude. My leafs squeak, my dash creaks, my RPMs are higher, it thuds when i stop/let off the brakes, and it doesnt feel as solid as it did the day I brought it home.

 

Crank up the music, problem solved.

 

My truck makes this really annoying "whinning" noise that winds up with the speed. I was told it could be water in my starter. True?

 

check all your fluid levels especially power steering fluid when low makes a whining noise

 

definitely not the starter. maybe carrier bearing?

 

Fluids are good. Doubt it was that.

Hmmm... Maybe. I don't have the tools or knowledge to change that though

 

When you start swapping out stock stuff for aftermarket and take trucks offroad they develope sounds and such. I agree with what was said above, turn up the stereo, works for me. Well that and I paint my truck every 18 months.

 

My noises are the cause of a bit of an accident I got into I think...
I want to paint my truck that often! I'd be fine with just 1 time. My truck is covered in scratches and the paint is chipping in a few places

 

haha there's no need to explain that story. Every dent on my truck has a story...

 

All I can suggest is that you keep you eyes open for a mod meet either in San Diego or LA area. When there is a larger group, more guys would be willing to help if they themselves don't have anything to mod on their trucks. We usually have small ones in SD.
